Is PSG now a serious title contender?

I am writing this post with great excitement and great expectation of what will happen in the world of football as one of the G.O.A.T has finally decided to shift base and will be unveiled soon in Paris.

On Sunday Lionel Messi held a farewell conference at Barcelona. He was in tears all through as he explained to the fans what really took place. How he accepted a 50% cut in salary but because of La Liga's FA rules and the club's financial constraints he could not continue with Barcelona FC and had to draw down the curtains on his illustrious career at the club.

Now he has agreed a two year contract and with a possibility of a year extension with PSG and will be unveiled tomorrow. He will now be reunited with his former colleagues (Dani Alves and Neymar).

This summer transfer, I will say PSG were successful in their dealings. They got the former AC Milan Italian goalkeeper who recently won the Euro 2020 competition with Italy, Gianluigi Donnarumma. Sergio Ramos, the former Real Madrid super star defender. Former Liverpool FC midfield mystro, Georgina Wijnaldum. Former Inter Milan right back, Achraf Hakimi and finally they have got arguably the best football player in the world, Lionel Messi.

Messi is expected to be unveiled at the Eiffel tower in Paris which Paris Saint Germain (PSG) had booked for the occasion.

I can't imagine how excited Mauricio Pochettino the coach of PSG will be now. He has definitely gotten a killer squad at his disposal to not only execute but also win all competition they will participate in.

Below are potential PSG line ups this 2021/2022 season.

The limelight will now be focused on the Ligue 1, the French league and they will definitely benefit immensely economically and otherwise from the actions of PSG in this summer transfer market.

My questions now are:

Can PSG with all these transfers win the champions league and other competitions?

Can Sergio Ramos play along side Lionel Messi? I bet Ramos in his wildest dreams will never believe he would one day play with his once strong rival in the La Liga.

Can Messi replicate his form at Barcelona in the French league with PSG, putting to rest the argument that he cannot play or perform anywhere else except for Barcelona and in Spain?

Will the acquisition of all these players especially Messi convince Kylian Mpape to stay and sign a new contract?

honestly. Any team that will face and defeat PSG will need to be very smart and also prepare well. with Messi in the team i can say that the team may hardly loose a match.

for me they are the number 1. favourite right now in the world.

On point @abimbola753, my thoughts exactly. In fact those into betting will have a field day whenever they pick PSG to win.

Except if the coach "village people show up" 😎😁

Thank you for reading and leaving your comment. Much appreciated.

You are right @trostnandia, football has gone beyond playing and has employed the use of technology and strategies. So for any team to successfully beat the new PSG team they will really need to be prepared.

Yeah, it was an emotional farewell to the extent that the Barcelona fans protested his leaving.

Hi,just imagine how Hive and specifically Sportstalk was well ahead of most news portals. Can we celebrate this post: https://peakd.com/hive-101690/@ogeewitty/breaking-news-he-is-for-psg-what-a-massive-coup

Well,PSG becomes serious Champions League contenders right away. They are not impregnable because of what @trostnandia.pob called tactics. I still don't believe Gueye is better than Casemeiro for example, I think he falls slightly below the very best in his area of the pitch.
But wow, what a state-of-the-art... Pochettino now has. My post(in the link above) says more on this.

Cheers

Definitely, no squad is as magnificent as theirs and they have squad depth too. What's not to love about this squad.

Can PSG with all these transfers win the champions league and other competitions?

I believe they are well capable after this major signings. With players like this in the sqaud, if properly managed, the UEFA trophy should be within their grasp this season all things being equal.

Can Sergio Ramos play along side Lionel Messi? I bet Ramos in his wildest dreams will never believe he would one day play with his once strong rival in the La Liga.

These guys are professionals and should play well together since they're on the same side now. They have the same goal and purpose. Any beef they had in the past should have been settled after seeing both players smile while training together.

Can Messi replicate his form at Barcelona in the French league with PSG, putting to rest the argument that he cannot play or perform anywhere else except for Barcelona and in Spain?

With a player of his calibre i believe he hould be able to cope in the Paris German Club given the support he has from former teammates Neymar and national team player and friend di maria. Expect him to replicate such performance has seen at his time at Barcelona and maybe much more.

Will the acquisition of all these players especially Messi convince Kylian Mpape to stay and sign a new contract?

I believe Mbappe would consider staying Lionel Messi arriving at the club and the Champions League looking more like a possibility than ever. Might stay a season before moving to Real Madrid.
