Lewandowski is The Best Player of the year and Klopp is The Best Coach!

Today FIFA finally revealed the winners of The Best prizes, which recognize the best performance in football for the past year. There were several prizes awarded today, but the only ones that matter to me are the best male player, best coach, best goal, and best goalkeeper.

Let's begin with the best goalkeeper, Neuer. The German goalkeeper that plays for Bayern Munich is almost every year considered as one of the best in his position. His solid performance in his club and all the trophies they earned this year, mainly the Champions League, have allowed him to once again be crowned as the best goalkeeper in the world. I think he deserves it, he was the goalkeeper of the most dominant team in the season, and he didn't show weaknesses throughout the season. He is in good shape and certainly deserving of being recognized as The Best.

The Best goal was awarded to Tottenham's player Son. This Korean guy is enjoying the best period of his career. He became a world-class player under Pochettino's coaching but now under Mourinho, he appears to keep evolving and improving. Right now it is fair to consider him one of the best strikers in the world. He is fast, has excellent definition when facing the rival goalkeeper in 1 vs 1, and his movements and passes show a proper understanding of tactics. The award he received was because he scored an excellent goal that could have very well been scored by historic players such as Ronald or Maradona. That's how good his goal was, you can see it for yourself here.

The Best Coach is probably the most controversial award this year. Besides Kloop, there were at least 2 other coaches that could have won it, one is PSG's coach Thomas Tuchel and the other one is Bayern Munich's coach Hans-Dieter Flick.

I think Klopp shouldn't have won this award this year. He only won the Premier League with Liverpool and wasn't even on the Champions League finale like the 2 other coaches. It is true that the Premier League is more competitive than the German or French league, but only winning a league trophy is not enough to be considered the best in my opinion.

Tuchel for example, won all trophies in French football, a total of 4 trophies including the league, the 2 different cups, and the Supercup. He also reached the Champions League final but lost it. Flick began the season as the assistant coach at Bayern, and when the main coach left the team at the beginning of November 2019, he became the main coach. He won all trophies. All trophies in German football, and the most important one, the Champions League.

I think Flick should be the winner of The Best Coach of the past season. He probably wasn't the chosen one because he began the season as an assistant coach but November is still very early in the season, and he should have been recognized for all the glory he brought to Bayern Munich. The top 3 coaches in my opinion should have been Flick, Tuchel, and Klopp in the third place. Curiously, the 3 of them are all German.

The Best Player was a really easy decision. Lewandowski was the leader of the attack at Bayern Munich, and undoubtedly the best player of the season. He scored tons of goals throughout the entire season, and he didn't win the Golden Boot only because Italian football has 38 league matches while German football has 34 league matches and those extra 4 matches allowed the Italian striker Immobile to surpass Lewandowski in the goal count. Without those extra 4 matches, the winner would have been Lewandowski. In the Champions League he was also the top scorer with 15 goals.

Just like his teammate Neuer, and his coach Flick he won all the trophies in the season, so there really shouldn't be any discussion regarding who should have won this individual award. Lewandowski is the fair winner.

Do you think the awards were fair?

I agree that both have been awarded the best player and best coach considering their very significant contributions to their respective clubs
