Real Madrid continues to disappoint and loses against Shakhtar 2-3!

Real Madrid has just suffered 2 consecutive defeats, in the weekend they lost against Cadiz and now they have lost against Shakhtar. Having 2 consecutive defeats isn't common at all for this team but they are really going through very difficult times and both their defensive and attacking players are leaving much to be desired.

Marcelo was the weakest defensive player once again, but Militao was also to blame for one of the goals and Varane scored an own goal. It was really a disastrous defense. This is really worrisome because in the midfielder there was Casemiro and Valverde, who always provide good defensive help but not even their presence was able to stop Shakhtar from scoring 3 goals in the first half!

The only defensive player who had a good match was Mendy even though he played as a right-back instead of a left-back which is his natural position. Mendy is awesome, he is extremely fast, strong, and knows how to dribble.

The attacking players in the lineup were Rodrygo, Jovic, and Asensio. When I saw their names I was happy, especially for Jovic and Rodrygo because they haven't played much as of late. But all of them were disappointing, Asensio maybe not that much but he was still incapable of scoring or assisting in at least 1 goal. They didn't create too many combinations and they didn't cause much danger for the rival goalkeeper.

The first half was horrible for Real Madrid, they scored 0 goals while Shakhtar scored 3. It really felt like a total and tragic collapse. Things changed a little bit in the second half, Benzema entered the field and Rodrygo went to the bench, and the team started to play somewhat better. Shakhtar's players began to focus on defending the result and it was Modric with an excellent shot who scored the first goal for Real Madrid. This was one of Modric's best goals in his entire career, it was really spectacular.

Despite that goal, and despite the fact Real Madrid was controlling the ball they were unable to really cause much danger to Shakhtar's defense. Real Madrid's second goal happened seconds after Vinicius entered the field, he was full of energy and quickly surprised a Shakhtar's player, he took the ball and alone in front of the goalkeeper he scored. He had like 15 seconds in the pitch and already had a goal. Sadly for him, that's pretty much all the danger he caused for Shakhtar in the entire match.

This Real Madrid appears to be worse than the one from season 2018-2019. It is true they can still compete and win the Spanish league because Barcelona and Atletico de Madrid are also in bad shape but things aren't looking promising.

Speaking of Atletico, that was the other match I saw today, Bayern Munich vs Atletico de Madrid. The difference in the level of the players between this match and the one with Real Madrid and Shakhtar was very noticeable. As expected, Bayern Munich proved once again that they are the best team in the world and destroyed Atletico de Madrid 4-0. Their first goal was very similar to the one they scored in the Champions League finale against PSG, a good cross from Kimmich and a goal from Coman, this time it was with the foot instead of with the head.

Coman also gave a good assist in the second goal scored by Goretzka and he also scored the last goal after an excellent individual play that left an Atletico's defender lying on the floor. It is clear that Coman was the best player of the match. Tolisso scored the third goal and well, in short words this goal can very well be the goal of the year, it was an absolutely bestial shot straight to the top bins.

Bayern Munich's dominance was total, Atletico was able to have some interesting attacking plays but nothing that could compete with Bayern's capacity to score tons of goals and destroy their opponents. Today was surely a bad day for Madrid's teams.

The next match I plan to watch is "El Clasico" this Saturday. I think Barcelona has more chances to win the match because they have had more time to rest (4 days) and they should feel more confident after their victory yesterday in their first Champions League match. Real Madrid probably has a lot of doubts and only 3 days of rest. Nevertheless, I am hoping to watch an exciting match although knowing that both teams are currently suffering from low performance, there is a high risk this match could be boring, either way, "El Clasico" is always an important match.
