Spain ties against Germany in the last minute!
Today I was able to watch almost the entire match between Spain and Germany. This match belongs to the UEFA Nations League tournament, which is a new tournament created for European teams. It is not as important as the UEFA European Football Championship, but it is considered an official tournament.
It was created because the friendly matches weren't that important for the football fans, and with the introduction of this format, there are more incentives to watch more matches as well as compete at the highest level. The first edition of this tournament finished last year and Portugal won the trophy.
Today, the best match available was between Spain and Germany. These 2 teams are 2 of the most successful European nations when it comes to football, especially Germany with their 4 World Cups. Both teams are currently in a transition when new players are being added to the squad with the hopes of finding a young competitive team for the years to come.
It was clear from the beginning both teams need a top-notch striker. Both Rodrigo and Werner were very disappointing in their efforts, especially in the first half. In the second half, Werner managed to score a goal and Rodrigo manage to assist in Spain's goal in the last minute of the match! So their statistics weren't that bad after all, 1 goal and 1 assist between the 2 strikers of both teams. Despite this fact, I think neither of them are world-class strikers.
I think France is a much more competitive team with superior strikers and at least equally good midfielders and defense. At this moment, I think France is the favorite to win not only this tournament but also the European Championship of next year. The next World Cup is still a long way to go (2 years) so I prefer not to name any favorites for the moment.
De Gea gave an excellent performance as Spain's goalkeeper and it is good to see him competing at his best. It must be disappointing to him to not be able to win many trophies at Manchester United but at least he knows he is one of the best goalkeepers in the world. The match wasn't a very exciting one though.
The next match I will see will probably be France vs Sweden this Saturday, I hope Mbappe can play but I have my doubts because he was in the Champions League final so his vacations might have ended a little bit later than the other players. However, he is included in the selected list of players which you can find here https://www.fff.fr/equipes-de-france/1/france-a/derniere-selection so he will most likely play at least 1 of the 2 matches.
