Football Final Week | 4 Races Across the Top Leagues to Look Out For.

It is the final week of domestic football in what has been an incredible season filled with ups and downs, but whichever way you cut it there is no denying how much the beautiful game has provided a wonderful distraction from the health crisis problem affecting the world.

I would say that despite a few fans who may have preferred to see their teams perform much better than they have done this season.

While some leagues have pretty much confirmed their winners and their three to be relegated, the final week still presents us with an incredible set of stories that are yet to be written.

I have narrowed them to the four that I have my eye on.

1: Premier League top 4 race.

This season's Premier League has provided numerous ups and downs for pretty much every club. Most had Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Spurs coming into the top 4 due to their summer transfer windows, but that quickly changed as the season progressed.

Numerous injuries to Liverpool's most important players stunted their performances while Tottenham faced the inevitable anchor that is Jose Mourinho who did what he always does - sucking the life out of the modern game.

The final week of the Premier League season presents us with a crazy race for the last two spots in the top 4.

With City and United having secured the top two spots, the battle is now left between Chelsea, Liverpool and Leicester to cement their position in the Champions League qualification spots.

Both Chelsea and Liverpool will only be required to win their final matches to qualify, however, Leicester will be hoping Lightning does not strike twice as they face Tottenham on the final day of the season.

A win would put Leicester in a good position to qualify but would require either Chelsea or Liverpool to drop points in their games.

Personally, I hope Leicester manage a miracle and qualify. They deserve to be in the Champions League and not fail at the final hurdle as they did last season against Manchester United.

2: La Liga title race.

Second on the list is the La Liga title race.

Who wins the trophy?

With only two points separating first and second, the title race has come down to the wire.

The incredible thing about this race is that Real Madrid have had, what is in my book, a poor season. Atletico Madrid, on the other hand, had an amazing start to the season but towards the end of it coughed and stuttered towards the finish line which is currently just in sight.

It didn't have to be this close though. Atletico took their eye off the ball and now they have to make sure they don't throw away what has been an incredible season on the final day.

It is time another club other than Real Madrid or Barcelona won the league, don't you think?

3: Serie A top 4 race.

In my opinion, this is the best top 4 race this season just because it brings with it massive consequences for one of the teams. That team is Juventus.

The Old Lady has genuinely embraced her name by having a squad average age of 27.9 years.

Incredible.

They have consistently gone for out-of-contract players and signed them up on massive wages which has made it incredibly difficult to offload them whenever they fail to perform according to expectations.

Juventus are currently sitting in fifth with a slim chance of making it into the top 4.

If they win their last match, they will be on 78 points but they would require to score 9 or more goals in order to dislodge Atalanta from second. That is highly unlikely.

That means either Milan or Napoli will have to drop points for Juventus to squeeze through.

Milan could be another Leicester story. They face second-placed Atalanta on the last day having dropped valuable points in game week 36 which could have seen them clear of this top 4 race needing only a point on the final day to guarantee qualification.

Will Christiano Ronaldo manage to bring Champions League to the Allianz?

Will he commit his future to the club if they fail to qualify?

Where would he move to next if he leaves?

Will Andrea Pirlo be sacked if they finish fifth?

So much jeopardy riding on the final gameweek of Serie A.

4: Ligue 1 title race.

Would I be wrong in boldly stating that another team winning Ligue 1 is good for the footballing world?

I can't be the only one who thinks that way.

Money in football has always been a huge issue but never has it been as big as it is now.

You see, you can get a billionaire owner but their wealth has a limit. They have to rely on sponsorship deals and shop sales, among many other sources of revenue, to boost the status of the club.

However, with the entry of oil-backed nations owning clubs this has turned some of the very best leagues into shells of their former selves.

Just look at the Premier League.

Manchester City pretty much have two starting 11's and can compete on two different fronts without having to worry about fatigue. How can other teams compete with that?

In the past, Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, sometimes City and even Leicester have won the Premier League.

Now there is a silent agreement that whenever City win it, everyone but City fans will just cross that season out and go again next season. No one seems to be bothered by their success. There is no soul to it.

Ligue 1 has been like that for the longest time. PSG wins it every season. They buy players for 150 plus million. It is disgusting.

A win for Lille would be incredible just like Monaco did a few years ago.

With only a point separating the two teams, it is down to who wins and who loses their final game.

Conclusion

To wrap it all up in a fine little bow, there are two things I am looking forward to. Atletico win La Liga and Lille win Ligue 1.

The races for top 4 in both the Premier League and Serie A will be fun to follow but I don't have a dog in the race. It would be nice to see Liverpool miss out on Champions League and Juventus too, just so Christiano Ronaldo leaves that sinking ship. He deserves to finish his career without having it stained by poor ownership and management.

What are you keeping an eye on?

Shame for Leicester and Napoli. They choked hard! It would have been nice to have different teams in the Champions League.

Feel sorry for Leceister the most. After enduring a good season they bottled it up at the end. Making it the second time in a row.

Maybe they weren't champions League candidates after all

The laliga matches were super intense. I was watching Real Madrid match but everytime there was a goal in Atletico's matches they showed it on the screen. A great season ending and well-deserved title for Atletico. I am also hoping to see Lille winning the league, it would be good to see PSG finishing in the second position once in a while.

I don't watch La Liga as often but I was panicking on behalf of Atletico. I saw Real Madrid score the second to complete the comeback, and Ramos signaling the score for the Atletico game. I would have lost it if they lost it in the final second. Probably would have shed a tear.

Now for Lille to give the Universe what it wants. Hope they don't bottle it.
