A Day at Epe Recreation Center, Lagos for Coaches Inter-Council Friendly Match and Meet up

The friendly match and gets together was held on the 26th of June, 2021 at Epe Recreation Center. It is between the coaches of two different councils, Epe Football Coaches Council (EPCC) and Alimosho Football Coaches Council (AFCC). DFA falls under the Epe Football Coaches Council (EPCC).

The Recreation Center is an eye-opening experience, as I wouldn't have thought that such a big and Sports infrastructure is at Epe, Lagos State. The Recreation Center is amazing, I took pictures of different infrastructures and I felt like when will DFA get to this level? I strongly believe we will get there with our persistence, consistency, and perspiration. I reckon that the Epe Recreation Center is massive on its level.

There are hostels in there for the academy students (Boys and Girls). We saw many of the students and their coaches. Even, it’s three of the students (Referee, and two Linemen) that officiate the match and they did well.

It was raining and there's water everywhere in the stadium, you can witness it in the photos attached in the post.

Match Reports

The match is full of fun from the beginning to the end. As it was fun, at the same time, it's full of learning and new experience. The match was very tight between the two teams. The home team, EFCC scored first with the aid of Coach Benji who played in the midfield, the count is 1 - 0.

As the match goes on, the AFCC was trying to equalize, in the middle of that, they conceded the second goal. Coach Niran moves the ball from the left flank and dribbled one of the defenders, and immediately played a curve shot (R2) and the ball hit the Left Bar, the ball is deflected into the box-6 and one of the EFCC players was there at the right time and tapped the ball into the net, that made it 2 - 0.

Before and after the second goal, the EFCC saw many chances and missed them. As a coach, you would have wiped your players' heads if they were the ones that missed those clear chances lol. EFCC is playing hard to dominate the match but the AFCC is not allowing that. AFCC played good football and didn't get depressed about the two goals, instead, they were playing to balance the match. Before the end of the first half, the AFCC player was fouled in the box-18 and the referee blows a penalty kick. The penalty kick scored and the count is 2 - 1.

The AFCC got some chances toward the end of the half-time but was denied by the EFCC goalkeeper. The first half ended in 2 - 1. The EFCC made many substitutions towards the end of the halftime as many coaches are still outside waiting to get substituted. The second match began and the AFCC dominated the whole of the second half with many great chances but denied by the goalkeeper, the EFCC goalkeeper was very superb and the man of the match of that day, you can not believe how the man was lifting himself as old and fat as he his, lol. The goalkeeper is a great one and no one will deny that on the field, he amazed everyone. Five minutes toward the second half, he got substituted for another Coach Goalkeeper.

The match ended in 2 - 1 and I can say that the AFCC won the possession. If I should rate it I will say 40% to 60% but nobody cares about that since the EFCC grabbed the winning. It was a lot of fun match that almost no one will regret watching. You will learn and laugh your ass off :)

Structures

There is a building dedicated to Snooker 🎱 and Tennis. Here are some coaches playing Snooker before the match/event got started.

The Tennis board is there and no one is playing it at that time, you can also see the picture below.

Along the road of moving to the Tennis and Snooker building, there's a basketball 🏀 court by the left-hand side with sitters for the audience who love the sports. The basketballers were not there at the time I snapped but before we left the Recreation Center, many basketballers came to play, I watched them with their amazing skills, at least scoring from a far distance a countless number of times and the way they navigate with the basketball is amazing.

The long tennis 🎾 court is adjacent to the basketball court with its sitters opposite it. This is the photo of the basketball court.

This is sitting space for the long tennis court. This is the same place we had our discussions and feeding after the match.

This is the Academy Bus 🚌, of the PaPa Soccer Academy of Epe. The Pride of Epe, that's their motto.

I managed to take some photos of the coaches as we arrived there.

This is a photo of the fans sitting and waiting to watch the match between the coaches. Many students are waiting to watch their coaches playing.

These are photos captured while the match was ongoing. The score was 1-0 and you can see the elderly Coach of Alimosho Football Coaches Council outside coaching the coaches playing on the field.

After the match, all the coaches converged to the Tennis Sitters to have talks, discussions, feeding, drinks, and dancing. There was a lot of fun and talks about the progress of the coaches association.
