The acquisition of new players by football clubs have always been met with enormous fanfare by the club's fan base. Overtime we've experienced some of the best and creative unveiling of new players by football clubs, while they've also been some quite funny, weird or bizarre ones.

Today's article is not for the best (as that would come subsequently), but about some of the weird and funny ones.

SANTI CAZORLA (VILLARREAL)

The former arsenal midfield maestro was acquired from the gunners after he suffered a career threatening injury. At first he was told that he might never play football again, but by some miraculous turnaround, he recovered from the knee injury and was picked up by the yellow submarines.

With just one thousand fans in the stadium to witness his return from the dead, the club decided to also work a miracle of their own. They decided to use an empty tunnel-like container which received a magic touch from a magician, who then stepped aside to observe his workings. The container then started emitting smoke, after which the magician opened it and Santi emerged from it.

It was a weird and beautiful spectacle, perhaps, depicting where the player is coming from. So in the space of few months, Cazorla emerged from the dead twice. Who said miracles don't happen?

PAULO DI CANIO (SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY)

It is rumored that at the time that this transfer happened, the perception of Italian culture in England was shaped by the teenage mutant ninja turtles. It is believed that's the only way that what was exhibited during their unveiling could be explained.

Paulo along with compatriot and new teammate Benito were captured biting into what looked like an uncooked pizza.

I mean, is excess consumption of such not good for a footballer's health and physical well-being? And what's the correlation between pizza and football? Either way, I guess Wednesday embraced the Italian culture the best way they knew.

BRYAN ROBSON (MIDDLESBROUGH)

Well, this one was always going to be tricky. I mean, if you're unveiling a player, that means he shows up in the club's kit, and if your unveiling a coach, it means he shows up in a suit and tie. But what if you're unveiling a player-coach, what do you do? Incase this happens again in future, Middlesbrough decided to show us how it should be done.

While unveiling Robson, Boro decided that the best way to dress him is for him to wear half the football kit from waist down, and a suit and tie on his upper body.

What a spectacle! Perhaps that's how he dressed to the job interview just to show that he's not done for as a player, but also that he's ready to be a coach.

DAVID GINOLA (ASTON VILLA)

Traditionally, we see players holding up their new club's shirt with their names on it while adorning another. Well, perhaps that's a waste of resources and shouldn't be tolerated if Ginola's unveiling is worth using as a yardstick.

At his unveiling as a Tottenham player in 1996,Ginola had to take off his shirt and hold it up for a photo session.

Till now we still cannot tell whether it was part of the script or just an oversight by the kit man. Maybe he was trying to show appreciation by saving them extra funds from printing more jerseys.

I remember Santi Carzola's unveiling very well and I found it strange too 😂. Even Ronaldo and Messi weren't unveiled to much funfare even though they had the stadium packed.

I think it was the network, but it's loaded now.

The first time I saw Santi's unveiling, I was really amused. Then it just felt like they were trying to connect it to his career resurrection

🤣🤣career resurrection. Do you know the funny thing? After I read your post yesterday, it was as though espnfc on Instagram heard you because I saw that unveiling again yesterday. I remembered your post straightaway 🤣

Perhaps they did. It will take something really special to beat that unveiling

I remember Santi very well...I even followed the surgery, they had to take an extra skin and fix his injury...Seeing him leave the EPL was not funny and somehow he popped in Villarreal 😂
