Will Serena Williams Ever Win Another Grand Slam?

You have to feel for Serena at this point, again crashing out of another grand slam tournament where she has been highly touted to win. In a French Open where the top seeds are being tossed aside like seedings do not matter, Serena would have fancied her chances of winning this one.

Serena is only one grand slam away from equaling Margaret Courts all time record of 24 grand slam titles. Having won an unprecedented 10 grand slam titles since she clocked 30, her reign of dominance has extended beyond many predicted. Has it finally come to a close though?

Her last slam win was at the 2017 Australian Open against her sister Venus. Since then, she has reached the final of a grand slam tournament four times and has fallen short in all those occasions. At 39, and with her dedicating a fair amount of time to motherhood these days, she isn't exactly going to get that many opportunities going forward. So will the unprecedented 24th title elude her before she decides to call it quits?

Her style of play has largely remained unchanged over the decades. The powerful, physical approach to her game has kept her competitive with much younger rivals at top level. While she may have slowed down a bit in terms of movements, there has never been a need tor overly long rallies in her game as she quickly closes out a game point in dominant fashion. If it is a question of her physical abilities I think she still has what it takes.

So What is The Problem?

Having come up short on 4 different occasions to 4 different opponents in Grand slam final matches since her last win, there is obviously something off about her mindset heading into the Final. While I take nothing away from her opponents, I believe the problem still largely lies inside her head. She was after all the overwhelming favorite on all 4 occasions heading into the final. It is obvious that the thought of equaling Margaret Court's all time record rests heavily on her mind which affects the rhythm of her play. Analyzing those Finals we see a pattern of unforced errors she normally has no business committing. I think the problem still largely remains a mental one and can be adjusted with the right psyche heading into these Tournaments.

While it is established that she may not get too many chances going forward, I would never bet against Serena equaling and breaking that record.

I think Serena is past her glory days. she is a shadow of herself. It's humiliating losing to teenagers recently.

At current form, she doesn't stand a chance. She will have to do something spectacular concerning her fitness to equal Margaret Court record of 24 Grand slams.

I hope she rediscover her touch before it's too late

Not totally ruling her out. Just really disappointed with her recent loses. The Serena I know doesn't lose easily that way

Serena Williams is a born fighter and the motherhood might have disturbed her rythm. But I think she will come back and show her past days once again.

Me too :)

I still remember, she was injured in a grand slam match, but took medication and started blasting the opponent without moving much because of injury.

I think it's just a matter of few more slams and she will be back.
