After last nights big loss to the Dallas Stars what are the Calgary Flames
going to do now in the off season to improve the club into a playoff team??
You have to start by looking at Johnny Gaudreau who seems to vanish every
year in the playoffs, with only 1 short handed goal on this years playoffs and
a couple of assists you have to wonder if he is not gonna become trade bait ??
Johnny's numbers during the regular season are great,
but after that it seems the tighter defense and less space for him
seems to be his downfall.
The next step has to be to name a head coach, whether that be Jeff Ward
who was named interim head coach last winter. Ward did a great job
after taking over the helm and should be given the position, as it was the
players who fell down on the job in the playoffs again.
There were some bright spots as well Dillon Dube, Sam Bennett,
Matthew Tkachuk, Milan Lucic, Andrew Mangiapane , Mikael Backlund
played great. The third line was the best line in the last few games
Milan Lucic - Sam Bennett - Dillon Dube were outstanding with Bennett
who always ups his game in the playoffs. The final nail in coffin for this
years hope was when Matthew Tkachuk got injured.
Well time will tell what will really happen with the Flames.
