My FPL report: Game Week 2

The English Premier League continued this last weekend with all the 20 teams playing this time, unlike what happened in game week 1 when the Manchester teams could not get in action due to their late engagements towards the end of last season.

Knowing that Liverpool will be playing Chelsea and Arsenal will be playing their London rival, Westham; I decided to not consider Aubameyang and Sallah for captainship in anticipation of a stiffled performance from them. Manchester City was to play Wolverhampton in what was supposed to be a relatively easy game for the pensioners, hence, I decided to captain Kevin De Bruyne in anticipation of a top-notch performance from him. Thankfully, I read the week well and the decision paid off with a 13 (including bonus) points performance from him.

The decision to transfer-in Justin of Leceister and Patrick Bamford of Leeds also paid off in the form of a decent performance from them. The decision to bring-in Vardy for Timo Weiner made no difference with both players dropping a 2 point performance. Although I could have done better in the area of goalkeeping, with my substitute goalkeeper racking up 6 points when my first choice keeper was only able to make 3 points. Overall, I was able to rack up 68 points for the game week, an improvement on the previous week where I was only able to make 60.

What is going to change for Game Week 3 ?

Since I have used up my wild card chip prior to game week 2, I am now left with the gift of a single free transfer for each game week. Since Arsenal will be playing Liverpool in game week 3, I cannot afford to have Aubameyang and Sallah in my team at the same time. Hence I decided to drop Aubameyang for Sallah and brought-in Tottenham's Ming Son who will be going into game week 3 at the backdrop of a huge performance in game week 2. Since De Bruyne's Manchester City will be facing Leceister, I expect a tricky game and not so excellent performance from KDB. Hence, I chose to captain Son instead. Hopefully, the decision will also pay off like the last time.

Son had a huge performance last week and is a massive gamble this week. I don't know if he can replicate what he did in week 2 and the horse may have bolted. I hope you are right though and I see it as a gamble.

Yea, it's more of a gamble to be honest. But looking at the fixture, choosing any other player as captain looks even riskier. I hope my gambling pays off again.
