First Love

Revelation 2:4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.

The church of Ephesus was wonderful. Their CV was awesome and tangible. Everyone loved them and even God recognized their good works. But in the midst of activities and programs they left their first love. A time came that they drifted into vanity because of the absence of love, for God is love.
Are you carried away by activities that you forget how God brought you to where you are? Where's your first love for Christ and the brethren? Where's that zeal for service that made you hunger for more of God's presence?

Three things God asks us to do today: remember where we fell, repent and do the first works (Revelations 2:5). Brethren, it's not enough to play church, for without the love of Christ we are empty. Arise today with a new fire. Don't relax in your past glory. There's much to do for the kingdom, only the first love can rekindle the fire for this end times.

Dear Father of love, thank you for giving us the opportunity to experience your love. Please forgive us for straying away from you, restore us for your glory, in Jesus name. Amen.
