Werner: Worst time of my Career

Expectations were high for German Timo Werner when he was brought to Chelsea from RB Leipzig in last summer's transfer window. And the 24-year-old striker started well and did well with goals in the early fall. Since then, however, it has gone downhill for the German. Now, however, Timo Werner speaks out and puts into words the difficult time after the switch to English.

The period where I did not score was the worst time of my career because I burned so many great chances. I don’t usually go that long without making a goal, so I’m really glad it ended two games ago. It was a difficult time, says Timo Werner to Sky Sports.

However, the German striker does not regret his move to Chelsea. Instead, he sees the shift as a way to learn a lot of new things. At the same time, he does not believe that the time at Chelsea has been the worst time of his career overall, even though the period without goals was the hardest time of his career for him.

When I look back on my first half year at Chelsea, it was not the hardest time of my career, but the best time to learn new things. When you have a period where you are not scoring goals, you also learn a lot about yourself. You learn how to handle such situations. And it was the best period for me to learn as much as possible in my career, it sounds from the Chelsea striker.

Timo Werner has so far played 34 games for Chelsea and made ten goals and nine assists. A goal total that most Chelsea fans had probably seen was a bit higher.

Later on Sunday, however, Timo Werner will have the opportunity to increase the number on his goal account when Chelsea at home at Stamford Bridge clash with Manchester United.
