Argentina was left as an option but the health problems continue and the government also decides to decline, creating a problem for Conmebol but in a quick meeting at its headquarters located in Asunción, Paraguay and with the support of the national government they decide to take it to Brazilian lands.
In the first instance, it would be played from June 13 to July 10, only in 4 venues and without an audience; Everything seemed ready but now another problem arises the national teams of: Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Uruguay do not seem willing to play it, only Bolivia has shown interest in participating, as for the rest of the South American selected: Chile, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru and Venezuela until now remain without issuing any opinion but it is expected that they will do so in the coming days and finally decide if the XLVII edition of the Copa América will be held.
Lo que al comienzo del año 2020 parecía ser una gran fiesta del fútbol sudamericano la XLVII edición de la Copa América, por primera vez a disputarse conjuntamente en dos países: Argentina y Colombia tuvo que suspenderse por la pandemia del COVID 19 y esperaban poder disputarla en este año 2021.
Pero desafortunadamente un año después seguimos con los mismos o tal vez muchos más problemas relacionados por la pandemia, primero fue Colombia quién declinó realizarla por qué sumados a los ocasionados por el COVID 19; también ahora le sumamos los muchos problemas sociales y protestas qué de un tiempo para acá enfrentan.
Quedó Argentina cómo opción pero los problemas sanitarios continúan y el gobierno decide también declinar, creando un problema a la Conmebol pero en una rápida reunión en su sede ubicada en Asunción, Paraguay y contando con el apoyo del gobierno nacional deciden llevarla a tierras brasileñas.
En primera instancia se jugaría del 13 de Junio al 10 de Julio, únicamente en 4 sedes y sin público; todo parecía listo pero ahora surge otro inconveniente los equipos nacionales de: Argentina, Brasil, Colombia y Uruguay no parecen dispuestos a jugarla, sólo Bolivia ha mostrado interés en participar, en cuanto al resto de seleccionados sudamericanos: Chile, Ecuador, Paraguay, Perú y Venezuela hasta los momentos se mantienen sin emitir opinión alguna pero se espera lo hagan en los próximos días y decidan por fin si se realizará la edición número XLVII de la Copa América.
