Does La Liga President Have An Agenda Against FC Barcelona

Source

There is an ongoing battle between FC Barcelona and La Liga President Javier Tebas over the renewal of Gavi's contract in the winter transfer window. FC Barcelona renewed Gavi's contract in the final days of the January transfer window, but before Barcelona could renew Gavi's contract they had an issue with La Liga authority, the authorities under Javier Tebas did not accept the document for Gavi's renewal and were not willing to hear the club out.

FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta took the case to court and the court ordered the La Liga authority to accept FC Barcelona's proposal and register Gavi as a first-team player for FC Barcelona. It's been a month since FC Barcelona renewed Gavi, but now the La Liga President has come out and said he will not accept the renewal and will go to court to get an appeal on the case if he succeeds Gavi will leave Barcelona as a free agent in the summer transfer window.

Javier Tebas has always had an agenda against FC Barcelona and it is coming to light now, he was the same man that almost stopped Messi from being registered as a first-team player in 2004 and is the same man that made FC Barcelona let Messi go for free in 2021.

Tebas should cut Barcelona some slack, yes FC Barcelona were irresponsible in the past in spending funds and having huge wage bills which lead to their financial ruin in 2021, but Laporta has stepped in and has made sure big wages have been cut down and has shown transparency to the La Liga authorities on how the club is managing it's financed and has also controlled it's spending in the transfer window.

FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta has given his response and is ready to go to court and defend the registration of Gavi as a first-team player. Laporta said he will do whatever it takes and he won't be intimidated by anyone, I trust Laporta and I know he will win the court case, he has shown he loves the club and has put the club as his top priority.

I just hope FC Barcelona wins the case if Tebas is still willing to go to court so that Laporta can get this issue behind the club and get his attention elsewhere. So guys that will be all for now, thanks for stopping by, and have a great day.

I don't think this is straight cut and an easy win for Barcelona. I know they cut the salaries etc but according to La Liga they are nowhere near the wage cup that was given to them. They are pushing their limits with La Liga as La Liga control all the players contracts in Spain and not the clubs like elsewhere.

I think Barcelona's case in specific is fascinating because it shows that top clubs and their fans are used to preferential treatment so much that it actually becomes odd and unfair that they have to follow the rules.

I agree they get away with murder as these are not being run as a business should. Look at Real Madrid proposing a $1 billion bid for Mbappe. They simply cannot afford him as yes they made profit last year, but it wasn't huge money. I hope La Liga steps in and blocks the stupid price tag.

Yeah, I agree with you on that, Laporta said in a press conference that Barca will still be cutting down wages to balance the books, and I think La Liga might stop Barca from making a signings in the coming transfer window, but still I thinks Tebas is more focus on what is going on in Barca.

Tebas may or may not have something against Barcelona, but that doesn't matter as nothing he's doing is against the rules. Also, Laporta didn't cut the big wages, he actually added more wages with the levers and if it weren't for PL clubs overspending, Barcelona would have been the club who spent the most and that's a club supposed to be "in crippling debt".

There's no slack needed. If Barcelona provides evidence that they can pay Gavi's wage within the rules, he'd be registered, if not, he won't. Unless you're asking La Liga to make exception for Barcelona while the rest follow those rules and regulations.

Laporta did cut some wages down, take a look at De Jong, Busquet, and Jordi Alba, their wages were cut by half, and even when Dembele was asking for higher wages before he renews his contract, Laporta was not willing to comply and insist on the offer the club was willing to pay and he also got rid of Griezmann and Coutinho who had huge wage bills in the club.

You're mistaking deferrals with cuts, but also the same core issue is still the same, Gavi's registration issue is caused by Barcelona's horrible money management Tebas is applying the rules to Barcelona.

Barcelona's payroll went down from €281,185,000 to €263,470,000 but they still paid 150 million in the transfer window. This is a Barcelona issue, even if Tebas hates Barcelona, they put themselves in that situation and even by selling the club's assets, which is very harmful in the long run, Laporta didn't solve the core issue. In fact, the club is worse prepared for the future.
