Reported Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal target Leon Bailey believes he’s in “top form” for Bayer Leverkusen and still hopes to emulate his idol Ronaldinho, speaking to the Bundesliga website.
Like the two-time Ballon d’Or winner, Bailey is certainly a player capable of producing moments of ‘rabbit-out-of-the-hat’ magic.
Of course, the jet-heeled Jamaican has a long way to go before he can match the gravity-defying feats of Ronaldinho himself but, after a couple of lean years, he’s certainly back on the right track.
In addition to his nine assists, Bailey has scored an impressive 11 goals this term. A heart-stopping, long-range curler in the 4-1 thrashing of Hoffenheim earned him December’s goal of the month award.
On current form, Bailey won’t have to wait long before his dream move to the Premier League becomes a reality.

“I feel so good I can play every game for 90 minutes and keep going. My body is in good shape right now and I’ve been working hard on it to stay in good shape.

“I’ve changed the way I recover, the way I eat, the way I sleep, and I changed a lot of stuff. I’ve taken the time out to focus on my body this year because I had problems with injuries last year.

“I really admired Ronaldinho a lot when I was younger. He was brilliant and unbelievable in the way he played. It was amazing to watch how he entertained the audience and I really hoped one day I could entertain an audience like he did.

“These are things I still hope to do.”

It remains to be seen how much longer Bailey will be enthralling the Leverkusen public.
