Today Steven Gerrard turns 40 - Captain Fantastic.

Steven Gerrard is a local Liverpudlian that went through the ranks at Liverpool. He captain his boyhood club and also captain the national team, England. Steven Gerrard spent the majority of his career as a central midfielder for club and country. Gerrard is a well rounded player, famous for his long range passing ability, his shooting from long range and his leadership skills.

• Gerrard debut for Liverpool in 29/11/1998, against Blackburn Rovers.
• Scoring 186 goal in 710 appearance for Liverpool in all competitions.

Gerrard made a reputation for himself with his different types of passing, his famous for his long passes which benefited Fernando Torres. Those 2 had a great understanding of each others abilities;

Gerrard scored many important goals for Liverpool;

Equlising 2-2 v West Ham in the FA Cup final in 2006, 30 yards strike. And latter winning the trophy in penalty shootout.

His goal v Olympiakos in 2004, Liverpool needed to win by 2 goals to progress from the group stage. Liverpool were 2-1 with 4 minutes to go, Gerrard's famous long range effort paid off - What a hit son, what a hit!!

His most memorial moment was the UEFA Champions League final in 2005 v AC Milan. Liverpool were trailing by 3 goals to nil at half time. He lead by example, by scoring the first goal after half time with a header. And the rest was history. It sparked the greatest comeback in Champions League final. Liverpool again won the trophy in penalty shootout.
