Although the calendar has entered 2021 but the corona virus still spreading. A country like Spain has been hit hard, and this now means that the presidential election in FC Barcelona must be postponed to a later date. That was the conclusion after a meeting between the club and the Catalan government earlier today.

The presidential election was scheduled to take place on January 24, but due to the situation in which the region finds itself, it was deemed that it would not be medically responsible to hold the election on the agreed date. Thus, the three remaining candidates - Joan Laporta, Victor Font and Toni Freixa - must arm themselves with patience. It is not yet announced when you expect to have a new date ready.

Currently, Joan Laporta is the favorite to follow in the footsteps of former President Josep Marie Bartomeu. Joan Laporta was president of FC Barcelona from 2003 to 2010, and he was the man who in his time hired Pep Guardiola, who created one of the best football teams Europe has ever seen.
