Real Madrid vs Liverpool; Did Liverpool Not Really Prepare For The Match?

With the first half coming to an end, Liverpool had tried their best to find the net but Real Madrid still took the lead.
With a 50/50 possession for both team in the first half, Real Madrid had four good shots on target but Liverpool was yet to find the net.
Over the weekend when Liverpool gained victory over Arsenal, I thought they were actually sending a message to Real Madrid but from the match, can we say that the message was not well delivered or should we say that Real Madrid got the message and actually prepared for them.
The game ended not so much in favour of Liverpool but i think their next meeting, the table will turn to Liverpool's favour.
