Sporty Weekend Review (Oct. 8-9)

Last weekend was packed full of sporting events, and I enjoyed every bit of it.

Saturday EPL Reviews
As said in my last article, Chelsea and Manchester City handed down serious beating on Wolves and Southampton respectively. The only semblance in both games is that Southampton may be about to join Wolves on the list of teams to sack their manager this season, with Ralph Hassenhutl looking like the hot favourite to suffer the next managerial sack. Leicester slipped back to their old habits, losing to Bournemouth despite scoring the opener. Newcastle continues to rise, asserting their dominance on Brentford with a 5-1 drubbing. Spurs ended the day with a gritty 1-0 win at Brighton, a victory that epitomized what their recently deceased trainer stood for. May his soul rest in peace.

Der Klassiker
The sight of Oliver Kahn jumping out of his seat is a perfect summary of what this wonderful showpiece of a football match served in its entirety. Pace, tenacity, attacking intent, crunching tackles, and a last minute equaliser. If watching this match didn't get you entertained, something is definitely off with ya.😂😂😂 Anthony Modeste is not Haaland, but he picked his moment of glory very wisely having wasted a couple opportunities. In all, Bayern were ruthlessly shocked. I always love to see underdogs triumph.

Milan vs Juventus
If you are the type that lives in the world of possession football, you would feel Juventus were unlucky - Juve had 61% possession of the ball. However, the shot count was 21 to 10 in favour of Milan. That is enough to tell the dominant side in this one. Milan rolled back the years to put forward a defensive masterclass last witnessed when a certain Thiago Silva played for them. Despite the win, Milan are fifth on the log having won six of their nine games. Serie A is proving very competitive once again with just four points separating Napoli at the top and Roma in 6th position.

Congratulations, Max
As a huge fan of Lewis Hamilton I hope it's clearly understandable if I declare here that I don't really like Max Verstappen. However, I still have to give him props for winning this year's championship easily. Of course, it has to be easy considering his team cheated by going over the salary cap. Last year, an experienced Michael Masi made a very unbelievable decision to hand Red Bull victory. This year they are not telling us the extent to which Red Bull cheated. As far as I'm concerned, someone higher up is behind all these shenanigans. The world is watching!

Arsenal vs Liverpool
Though it's hard to admit, I have to say it's becoming ridiculous to say Arsenal are still not title contenders. Agreeably, Arsenal have had a lot of false starts in recent years where big starts evaporated into thin air around January. However, this current team looks very solid. Their strength in depth makes them look formidable. If City fail to win at Liverpool this weekend and Arsenal win at Leeds, the Gunners will hold a 3 point advantage with about one-third of the season already played. They were by far the better side against Liverpool, picking themselves up each time they were pegged back. Evidently, this team now has the mental strength previous teams lacked. They won't win the league, but they will give it a go. Such a wonderful improvement!

Everton vs Manchester United
My weekend review will be incomplete if I fail to discuss United's gritty win at Everton. They had to dig deep for this one, with Lampard throwing every big player at his disposal towards the relatively short Martinez. I can't help but laugh at the sight of Onana, Calvert-Lewin and Rondon throwing themselves at crosses. As for me, I believe Frank Lampard is an average Joe of a manager. The dude only rode his fantastic football career and connections to a big time management job. He will soon be found out!

It was a wonderful weekend with so many drama, no one expects Arsenal to win despite their top form, and same with AC Milan against juventus.

I actually predicted a 3-1 Arsenal win on a couple of sport articles here before the match. Liverpool are messed up right now, I want to see how they'll handle City this weekend.

Juve will once again struggle for a top 4 position. I hope Roma beats them to it this time.

Arsenal played with the mentality of a hero.. with a hero personality.. in a hero style.. so he deserved his victory

Nothing will stop them from competing for the last week except injuries.

Injuries will play a part. A lot of Arsenal fans around couldn't stop talking about how they would've won at Old Trafford if Partey played instead of Lokonga.

Hello friend,
Nice article. How did you select that Ronaldo pic to match your first sentence that has the word "gritty"?🙂 Senior writers stuff there.

Still monitoring our Chelsea,we'll talk about it much much later, by God's grace.

Cheers

Thanks, bro.
Got the image from Google. I moved the cursor to the place I wanted before long pressing the Gallery icon while writing. It's still trial by error. I'm poor with pictures.
Chelsea doing wonders right now. I think they've got their season back on track.

Hi bro,
Oh okay, a Computer. I don't have that for use,I use a phone. I made efforts to understand your otherwise clear explanation, but I tailed off at a time because it's a long time I used one.
Thanks though.

Well that "trial by error" was spot on! Looks like champion's stuff.👍

On Chelsea, nah let's wait, that world record discourse we had deserves we tarry a while, before making definitive statements.

Cheers man.

I use phone also, no computer.
For now, everyone at Chelsea looks to be singing from the same hymn book. We watch and wait!

O wow, then it means there are categories of phones or something.

Ok Chelsea had not won in Italy for 19 yrs before Potter's side rocked up at the San Siro. I recall 19yrs includes coaches like Ancelloti,Conte& the erstwhile coach.

Please don't make me talk Potter now,it doesn't give the needed respect to our discourse. You said you have done your research(not guess work) on Potter and you were willing to roll your data out(you even submitted some). I too insisted I have done mine(not guess work), but wasn't willing to go into explicit details.

So with due respect to that lengthy discourse, let's wait and see what Potter brings to the table. Researchers don't rush to start talking, until absolutely all samples are well tested and documented.

Relax please.

Cheers

Oh, definitely, not talking Potter for now. Was only discussing Chelsea's win.

As for phones, it's just a regular Android one.
