NBA Top Shots - NFT explode!

Top Shots an officially licensed digital collectibles specialise in digital assets surrounding some of the best moments in NBA history. The moments are recorded and then loaded onto a non Fungible token (NFT) and traded on a block chain where users can build collections, store or trade with other collectors.

The explosive growth in Top Shop collectables as caused significant barriers on their website which has been suffering from crashes due to the influx of collectors getting in early for a piece of the action.

Top Shot has recorded a massive $US255 million in sales over the past 30 days alone which has causes infrastructure issues with their system as the team rushes to upgrade their websites and servers.

Top Shots decentralised application (Dapp) is currently listed as the most
Popular](https://dappradar.com/rankings) dapp on the market with over 500,000 users world wide. The dapp hosts 30,000 more active users than Uniswap. Although it has a long way to go to catch uniswaps volume of $US1billion. Top Shot currently sits at $US12million.

You can visit
Top Shop](https://www.nbatopshot.com/) and check them out for yourself. I'm not much of a sports collector but we're starting to see alot of use cases emerge in the cryptoshphere and this is great news for tech advancements.

Other services Top Shop has integrated is an online market place where users who have registered an account with Top Shop can trade and sell their NFT collectables with other users. Don't rush out too fast as there is currently a backlog in registration approvals including processing sales. The team has been working around the clock to perform upgrades.

The most expensive NFT listed is this Vince Carter 3 Pointer currently listed for between $US179,999 to $US250,000. And as you can see my reflection I'm the photographer of the image 🤣 the cheapest NFT was of Austin Rivers which is a common collectable and currently listed for $US7.

Registration and marketplace infrastructure failures has seen many move to alternative sales sites to on-sell their collectables. eBay continues to be sellers proffered site for selling with rare NFTs up for sale for $US2500. Whether or not that is a good deal is totally up to the collectors discretion and I'm not knowledgeable in sports memorabilia.

Some issues have arisen as currently purchasing is done in packs so collectors receive a number of "moments" which can be traded. However packs must be opened to separate each moment to onsell individually. I'm not sure if it is a requirement but I do believe this may open up alot of people to rorting and ripping off others.

Top Shot is one of the first to enter this space and I'd say more sports will soon join the hype, I personally think these "moments" are overpriced and a market correction is due to occur which may see alot of people lose alot of money overnight.

My tip is on Soccer being the next big industry to boom with NFTs and maybe alot more value in older historical players coming back to life in the form of NFTs.

Either way, time will tell and I'm sitting this one out.

Will you be purchasing any NFTs in the coming months or years? Let me know in the comments section below on your thoughts.

For these Sports related NFTs such as Top Shot, I will not participate. They may have collector value but I see the risk/reward too high because everyone is jumping on the hype train. I may buy NFTs that net me some benefits in games and it is possible to earn crypto because it can give me a chance of earning more than I lose.

That's true, I've been having the same concerns about it. I think it's abit of a bubble atm. Guess time will tell.
