Olympics, more than just sport

There is always a large cohort of people that associate the Olympics with negative impacts which is an understandable position given there are significant issues not just this year pertaining to COVID19 and its impacts on cases associated to the village it was hosted and its workers.

In past years we have seen poor communities suffer as governments move mountains to bid for and when successful invest and develop entire cities to accommodate the games.

We very rarely see governments take this approach with homelessness, mental health and many other social issues.

But the games are not without their benefit as a whole towards society because of what they give birth to and enable. The mountains governments move pay off in many forms being a quick dollar for local businesses, trades, services and employment.

This year an Aussie did great, but not just any Aussie an asylum seeker who fled his country for a better life here, and will go on to be a role model for the next generation of children from his demographic. No amount of money can value that.

But beyond just the economic and social status of sporting hero's technological advances emerge and remain with societies. The Commonwealth games gave birth the Queensland's fantastic tram and train network which many tourist and locals now use.

But this year's games are on another level with Tokoyo investing in Hydrogen made from renewable energy and is preparing to take this fuel source to another level never seen before with vehicles running on 100% hydrogen. Burning hydrogen in piston powered vehicles might not be the best use and hydrogen is probably more efficient to power electric motors its still a wonderful sight to see that someone is doing something and it's working.

Recycling has been another big forefront with its Olympic medals forged from electronics which have been growing in landfills faster than any other waste. This year's Gold, Silver and Bronze medals are made from discarded smart phones and electronic devises that were not only salvaged from landfill but donated by people. Bringing to life old out dated technology that will go on forever as a monument to civilisation.

This Olympics cauldron is burning 100% Hydrogen which is made from solar and wind. All of which have been established in the former nuclear reactor area of Fukushima. Utilising an area that would now normally be off limits and providing energy sources to power people.

There are further plans to create more hydrogen and ship it all across the world replacing oil as the new energy source.

Amazing stuff right here, the future of the world and its looking alot brighter. What the Olympics takes, it also gives.

So before you judge sport as someone who may not like it, take a moment to think and appreciate the global advances the Olympics brings us and how much better is drives us to become. Not only on the field but in our every day lives too.

I read an article about how the Olympic village is powered by Hydrogen and how Toyota are going big into this. green energy is the future and this makes so much sense.

Sincerely I am very surprised with the materials that the medals are made of, without a doubt it is a very good thing, that is, recycling is good and this is great.

Yeah, man, Olympic is more than a sports competition. The spirit of it reflects the long history it made along the journey, in universal brotherhood and much more.
Thanks for sharing an awesome piece of content, highly appreciated.
