Spoils shared as City Vs Liverpool ends in a draw

Etihad played host to one of the most anticipated fixtures of the English premier league with two of the two previous seasons winners going to head. Both sides missed the services of some key men in their squad with Man city without record scorer Kun Aguero and Liverpool without inspirational defender Van Djik.

The game started quite fast as Liverpool took the lead early on from the penalty spot after a clumsy challenge by Walker on Mane which Salah calmly converted. City restored parity through Jesus after he turned sharply in the six yard box to slot the ball past the Liverpool goalkeeper.

Things began to change swiftly as City were also awarded a penalty after Joe Gomez was adjudged to have handled the ball in his eighteen yard box by the VAR a penalty which Debruyne failed to convert hitting the ball wide.

The second half was also hotly contested as Liverpool lost youngster Alexander Arnold to injury but both sides were able to hold on quite strongly defensively to make sure they got at least a point in the game as both sides head for the international break.
