How are you feeling my dear #family #hive and @sportstalksocial, I hope you are wonderfully and prepared to enjoy another installment of our wonderful world of #sport, an element that unites us day after day and brings us a host of surprises, anecdotes and stories that seem hidden but have always been there for all of us, you just have to look further to discover them. This time we are going to talk about those gladiators who despite receiving blows to their humanity, especially their jaws or jaws always go to the front of the battle without this aspect stopping them, that is, those men who had the #jaws more granite or solid of our passion #boxing. Fighters like #MarvinHagler, #JulioCesarChavez, #JakeLaMotta, the same and great #MuhammadAli that despite being defeated by Ken Norton, that same day when his jaw was removed he did not fade and his fight ended. We refer to these warriors when we say that they have the jaw of steel, so here I leave you this gift so that you can enjoy such fabulous stories. Let's go to action.

Rocky Marciano

We all know that #boxing is certainly a #sport; but beyond that it is an art since those fighters who have a great defensive capacity, many times do not need to depend on a jaw that is a sponge of blows. On the contrary, there are those who have a terrible defense and like to always go straight ahead, so having a granite jaw helps them a world when they are in the constant exchange of bombs to the head area, that is, that jaw or jaw represents his defense system, how crazy this is true of putting your face to the rival as a way to defend yourself, not falling and also not losing any fight as was the case with the spectacular #RockyMarciano. There I leave that.

But in boxing, can a jaw be trained? The truth is that the glass jaw does not refer to the chin, but to the neck and jaw muscles which minimize head injuries when the chin is struck. For example, if they connect a bomb to your chin, and if the fighter has a poor or weak neck and jaw, that head will move and roll like Linda Blair did in the #movie the exorcist. Those who saw it know what I'm talking about, those who didn't, this refers to the head turning 360 degrees. Of course, this is an example because if a boxer turns his head like this, he is already broken. I mean that if you receive that blow and those muscular structures are weak, the shaking will cause disorientation, brain abrasions and logically you will end up allowing a coup de grace that will send you straight to the canvas, if you have not already fallen with the previous blow. Now, exercising the muscles that help strengthen that area can improve the performance of #pugiles. I repeat, a broken jaw does not mean that you abandon the fight, because there are fighters who still go on, finish the fight, but they do go directly to the hospital, such is the case of what happened with Ali. An exercise is to place a small ball in the throat, lower the head until it is held with the jaw, make sure it is well inserted and proceed to perform a sparring or shadow boxing session, you will feel the tension in the neck, jaw and shoulders.

In reality, there are few exercises to strengthen the aforementioned area, so the hardness of a jaw could come from genetics; on the other hand, many stick to chewing different textures with the idea of exercising it. If the #boxers have noticed before each fight, they warm up by constantly opening and closing their mouths and moving their jaws from side to side, all with the aim of trying as much as possible to absorb their opponent's suckers. In the same way, during the fight, they clench the jaw with great force, so the mouth guard plays a very important role when receiving the blows and counteracting the power of the direct punches. And why do we say this? Well, all that will have an impact on the impact that the brain will receive, that is, if it shakes with greater or lesser intensity, sending you to the canvas or not.

As a particular piece of information regarding the aforementioned, I am going to present you a case of a friend whom I saw boxing here in Cumaná, Sucre Venezuela state, specifically in the so-called Ely Montes Gymnasium of the aforementioned city (Ely Montes was a boxer, teacher, and Cumanés coach. He trained Morochito Rodríguez who obtained the first Olympic gold medal for Venezuelan). Well, my friend always told me that you had to press the muscles well, biting the mouthguard very hard to repel the power of the blows. However, that day I saw him fight, with a single punch they took out his jaw and even so he continued fighting and won the fight, he did not go to the hospital because he himself took her to his place, the scream was heard from there to heaven, the pain came to him I say to the brain, this guy was tough but very crazy. From my point of view, pressing the muscles of the jaw is equivalent to squeezing the abdomen strongly so that they do not take you out of the air as we say and send you flying to the canvas.

The Iron Jaws

Well friends, now we are going with a top 5 of those who for me are the boxers with the most granite jaw in this sport. I am not saying that they are the strongest, but that for me they are; Everyone has their opinion and will have their best fighters in mind, on the other hand the position does not indicate who has it stronger than another, it is simply a place. This is my opinion, you have yours. This is my list, and yours?

2021-04-23 17.01.52.png

Marvin Hagler

Hagler-Hearns

Here we have who for me was the greatest middleweight in history. An extremely dominate boxer and champion in the 80's winning the title against Englishman Alan Minter. We all knew him as the Marvelous Hagler Wonder. In his career he never showed any sign of weakness and the blows he received did not shake him. With a total of 67 fights, 62 won, 3 losses and 2 draws; Of those won, 52 were by #KO and as if that were not enough, he was never knocked out. Only once can it be said that he went to the canvas when he faced Juan Roldán, but that did not matter because when he got up he did it with more power and won by #TKO. However, for many the fall was a kind of slip. A very particular aspect of Hagler's physiognomy is that his skull looks like a kind of motorcycle helmet, so he absorbed the blows as if nothing had happened and hence the strength of his jaw. And he assimilated blows without staggering and from men with powerful hits like Bennie Briscoe, Vito Antuofermo, Roberto Stone hands, Durán, Tommy The Cobra Hearns, and John The beast Mugabi. As an interesting fact, they all won. Not for nothing was the fight between Maravilla and The Cobra classified as the deadliest first round in history, a fight that Hagler won in round 3.

Julio Cesar Chavez

Chávez-Terrence

Another boxer who is framed in the frames of history. He won 5 titles in three different divisions Super Feather, Light, and Super Light. He played 115 fights winning 107, of them 86 by #KO, lost 6 times with 2 draws. Read this his first 87 fights were victorious, his first loss being the fight number 89 against Frankie Randall, in fight Julio was knocked down for the first time in his career in round 11, he remained undefeated for almost 14 years. With a powerful liver hook he was always on the attack, having one of the toughest jaws ever seen. That is why The Lion of Culiacán is considered the great Mexican champion, the best that this land has given, who with his characteristic granite jaw went out into the ring without fear with a superhuman impetus, was able to assimilate blows like no other and in his best times it was impossible cut off his face. And boy, was it a shock absorbing sponge, because it resisted the most powerful bombs of shortstop Edwin Chapo Rosario, who he beat on a trip for #TKO. This guy is great among the greats who even reached the Boxing Hall of Fame.

2021-04-23 17.01.52.png

Jake LaMotta

LaMotta-Robinson

Wild bull was a Welter, Middleweight, Middleweight champion with a record of 106 fights, 83 victories 30 of them by #KO, 19 defeats and 4 draws. Outside of fight number 6 against Sugar Ray Robinson, known as the Valentine's Day Massacre when he lost by #TKO in round 13 due to the terrible punishment he received, LaMotta had no problems getting ahead and although he had no knockout ability, he submitted his rivals to powerful punishments, he always went straight ahead to hunt his opponent, unafraid at close range. He had a thick skull and logically a muscular jaw capable of absorbing and accumulating all kinds of punishment, being one of the greatest boxers in boxing history. As mentioned he fought 6 times with Robinson and although he won only one, Sugar also felt the blows of the bull. With his aggressive style, he had a left hook that connected to the head and body of the rival, wearing him out little by little as a butcher punishment.

2021-04-23 17.01.52.png

BGB Muhammad Ali VS Henry Cooper KD GIF.gif
Ali-Cooper

I couldn't put aside the greatest of the greats the fabulous heavyweight champion #MuhammadAli, who left us a record of 61 fights with 56 victories and 5 defeats, of those victories 39 were #KO. Possessing a unique style, he faced explosive punchers like Joe Frazier, George Foreman, Sonny Liston, Henry Cooper and that one who broke his jaw Ken Norton. His spectacular lateral and waist movements drove his rivals crazy. With a jab that seemed like the coup de grace, he didn't need to go stalking but when he did, as well as he gave punishment he also received it. Henry Cooper and Chuck Wepner managed to send him to the canvas but Ali won both fights. Oscar Ringo Bonavena with a blown left hook to the chin nearly knocked him down. On the other hand, his first official loss was from the fists of Joe Frazier when he sealed his victory with a huge left hook to the chin that sent Ali flying to the canvas. However, Ali's gallantry and display of poise was when Ken Norton fractured his jaw, but that did not stop him because he continued in battle until the last round. There it got bigger.

2021-04-23 17.01.52.png

Rocky Marciano

RightFlippantAustralianfurseal-size_restricted.gif
Rocky Marciano

This fabulous heavyweight champion fighter played 49 fights, won them all with 43 #KO, never knew defeat retiring undefeated. His style was aggressive, nothing to retreat was always facing the rival's stalking, his face, although most of it ended up bloody, looked like rubber assimilating all kinds of punishment, he did not bow to anyone. This one did destroy jaws, but ask Joe Walcott who felt Rocky's huge right hand sending his jaw to the moon. For his part, Marciano had no problem withstanding the most ruthless blows from Joe Louis, whom he defeated, and then crying for having beaten his idol; Joe Walcott, Archie Moore, and Ezzard Charles. Rocky was definitely a monster in the ring.

Very well appreciated friends we have reached the end of the fight, thank God with an intact jaw. This has been a very special topic since we always talk about the punching ability of the fighters, but not about how much they can endure or resist the inclement punishments of their rivals. It has been an honor to have been with you waiting for your maximum enjoyment. Greetings and see you soon.

Saludos hermano
