Genoa appoints Rolando Matan has new head coach

Serie A side Genoa has confirmed the appointment of Rolando Maran has the new head coach on a 2-year deal, taking over from Davide Nicola after eight months in job, announced on Wednesday.

Rolando Maran, a former head coach to the Seria A side, Cagliari was sacked in February 2020 following a run of 12 games without a win in all competitions. The Italian had been without a club since being fired by Serie A rivals Cagliari in February.

Rolando Maran was born on the 14th on July, 1963 in Trento, Italy. After retiring as a player in 1997, he started his coaching career in 1997 at his former club Chievo as a coach, joining Brescia as a youth coach in the following year 1998 and stayed there for two years before becoming the youth coach at Cittadella in 2000, and two years later, he was appointed as the club's first-team manager.
