Arsenal vs Chelsea Preview and Prediction

Arsenal football club will be facing their London rival tomorrow Chelsea in the 2019/2020 FA Cup final at Wembley stadium, one good news about this year final is that a London club will be winning the trophy. The game between the two clubs will see the English football rounding up for the 19/20 season. This is not the first time both clubs will be meeting in the FA Cup final, the last time they met ended 2-1 in favour of the Gunners with Alexis Sanchez and Ramsey all on target and Diego Costa scoring for the Blues.

Although Chelsea had a great season under their manager Frank Lampard with the Champions League ticket while Arteta manage to see Arsenal to 8th position in the league, the club worst performance in the league for over 25 years. It will be very hard to give it to either of the club because they both faced a tough opponents to reach the final. Arsenal defeated Manchester City while Chelsea trashed Manchester United in a brilliant performance.

Looking at both teams performance in the league, pressure will likely be on Arsenal, they really need to win the trophy to have something to show up for this season and to also qualify for the Europa league while on the under side, Frank Lampard will be looking forward to win his first silverware as a manager with the club he once served as a player.

Frank Lampard who was a legend at Chelsea performed beyond expectation this season after a transfer ban was placed on the Chelsea in the summer transfer window with the club key player Hazard also switching to Real Madrid. Looking at the FA Cup records, both Arsenal and Chelsea are the most successful club in the competition with Arsenal leading with the number of final won.

The gunners will be looking forward to make it 13th FA Cup when they face Chelsea, their performance recently against the likes of Manchester City and League winner Liverpool will give them the hope of defeating the Blues. The club manager will have to come up with a great tactics against his opponent who may likely dominate the possession, the game may see Arteta coming out with a 3-4-3 formation which he used against Manchester City in the semi-final with club record signing Pepe, Aubameyang, and Lacazette all leading the front line. The club will be without the services of Mustafi who may not return to the club until October.

Chelsea season with Frank Lampard in charge was successful one with the club finishing in the top 4 and also securing the European competition ticket, winning the FA Cup against Arsenal will look like a bonus yo their season performance. No one expect to see the club challenging for any trophy this season with young academy players like Tammy Abraham, Mount, Fikayo Tomori, James Reece and Gilmour all making their way into the team. Chelsea may also use the 3-4-3 formation which worked perfectly for them against Manchester United and that will see Alonso and James Reece playing from the wingback. They will be without Gilmour who is out to injury while Kante remain a doubt for the encounter, Tammy Abraham may also start from the bench with the current form of Giroud.

Possible Lineup

  • Arsenal
Martinez, Holding, Luiz, Tierney, Bellerin, Ceballos, Xhaka, Saka, Pepe, Lacazette, Aubameyang

  • Chelsea
Caballero, Azpilicueta, Rudiger, Christensen, Alonso, Jorginho, Kovacic, Loftus Cheek, Mount, Pulisic, Giroud

Prediction

It will be very hard to predict the final score of this game or giving the trophy to any side but one thing that may likely happen in the game is goals coming from both sides, both teams has played each other on 20 occasions with Arsenal winning 9 while Chelsea has managed 5 wins, they have played a total of 6 draws. The game may see an extra time and probably a penalty shootout.

My prediction

Arsenal 1 - 2 Chelsea

Just change the score 2-1 Arsenal and we can be friends haha. Its a tough one to predict. Both have suspect defences, Arsenal beat Liverpool and Man City recently... Chelsea beat Arsenal last year in the UEFA cup final... Let's make London Red again :)
