Atletico de Madrid's stance on Griezmann case

Atletico Madrid coach takes strategies to protect Griezmann and the Club

Hello Hive Colleagues, this time I bring you an analysis of the contractual situation that Antoine Griezmann has in Atlético de Madrid.

Let's talk a little about the Griezmann case, who has not been able to free himself from the great contractual drama that leaves him forced to play in the last part of the matches. The French player has participated in the whole season since the first dates of the League we note that the player entered the field from the 60th minute. All this as a result of the condition of the player's contract, therefore, his team Atletico Madrid is alert of the conditions that was written the mandatory buyout clause in the contract section with FC Barcelona.

Let's analyze to understand this situation, F.C. Barcelona last season released a statement announcing that Griezmann was loaned to Atletico Madrid for two seasons with a compulsory purchase option. However, Atletico Madrid published other information through its official media that the player had been loaned without mentioning any compulsory purchase clause. At the beginning of this season it has been known that this compulsory purchase clause leaves him parked at Atletico Madrid if Griezmann plays more than 50% of the matches to which he is available during the two years of the current contract, it does not speak of 50% of the first season and the second, it only speaks of half of the matches of which the player is available. Consequently, as the player has been in several previous games, then those games do not count as games played. Analyzing last season Griezmann played 30 games out of the 35 that he was available and playing a game means more than 45 minutes. Therefore, adding up all the games of the previous season and this season he has played 42 games, that is to say he has played 30 of the 42 games.

The clause of the contracts is how the clubs can interpret it, but what is clear is that the player has not reached any agreement with the coach or the club to play the minutes that now is putting them to play which are the last 30 minutes of each game, all this being available to play from the beginning of the game. But the decision of the technical director is based on the respect to the Club and all its jurisdiction that wants to avoid paying 40 million Euros.

Consequently, Griezmann has played 30 of the 42 matches for which he has been available, the other matches that he has "not played" he has played for less than 45 minutes which does not count as a match played. In order to protect all this environment, the Atlético de Madrid's technician puts the player to play after the 60th minute. Consequently, he can play within these conditions still 18 more matches to reach 60 matches of which he has been available, but having played the 30 matches he carries over from the previous season and so it would be 50% and from there to count matches of which he has been available but has not played, because only then he could play more than 45 minutes. What is complex is the management of administration of a player for whom Atletico Madrid would like to have, but not so much to pay 40 million of his clause. I think this whole issue is extremely complex and absurd if you want to call it that. Even so, this player with few minutes played makes the difference, we will see in the Madrid derby and the player will unfortunately see the start from the bench.

That is going to end badly. They pay a star to play the garbage minutes. This year Atletico de Madrid is going to have a very bad time.

It is very true what you suppose, but I hope he recovers and gives a good show.

It's quite laughable how they would sign a contract without getting acquainted first with all the terms and clauses in the contract.

No matter how it ends, Atletico will lose, either by having a player they can't play or by a hefty release clause for a player that is in his twilight

The truth is that these issues are very complicated when it comes to the interpretation of each part.

I heard about this during the commentary on their game the other night and it just sounds like a bad deal all round for everyone. imagine being a player knowing you can only play so many minutes in a game and must surely be demoralizing and frustrating for him.

I think it is hurting the player and that may affect his performance.

This might just be the worst deal I've ever heard of. A player like Griezmann deserves more, how can he only play at the dying minutes of the game? it just doesn't make sense for any player talk more of a player of his calibre.

The truth is that this reality seems absurd, this player deserves much more.
