The Soccer World Cup is the sporting competition that generates the greatest expectations on the entire planet. The event, which takes place every four years, represents the call not only for the best teams in the world to fight to win it, but also exalts the deepest passions of fans, specialists and footballers from the five continents. After 21 editions, we can assure, without a doubt, that it is the most important sport festival on a global level.

But, a competition that has almost a hundred years of history, that has seen the best players in history parade, that survived World War II and was even the subject of questioning linked to political reasons, cannot go unnoticed. for the great controversies, as great as its own tradition, which reaches the stature of true legend. So, the question is: What has been the best Soccer World Cup in history? What do you think, dear reader?

The first thing we must analyze is that each World Cup has a context not only linked to football, but also to very important aspects such as technology, the media, the development of the sports industry and others. This circumstance makes each one different from the other, which adds a subjective element of great interest to establish comparisons. The other has to do with the fact of how many and which World Cups we have seen. Obviously, a football fan who is seventy years old, has seen more competitions than one in thirty, which gives the former greater tools to evaluate one another and establish indicators that allow a deeper analysis, without underestimating, not at all, the opinion of the youngest and making it clear that each era is different from another.

There are unforgettable World Cups, really. In that, I think we all agree. How to forget, for example, the World Cup in Mexico 70 and the triple crowning of Brazil with Pelé at the helm? Or, how can we not remember Diego Maradona's "hand of God" and the title of Argentina, again in Mexico, but in 1986? Can we leave out the great leadership of Zinedine Zidane in the triumph of the French team in 1998? Or the legendary “Maracanazo” that Uruguay gave to Brazil in its own backyard, in 1950? As we can see, this long history of more than 90 years of World Cups has left a long trail of plays, players, events, events related to the sport of goals and others that are not so much. The Soccer World Cup will always be an event that marks a mark at any time and the next one will be no different. By the way, I've seen eleven ... and you?

Thanks for reading me!! I invite you to join me in the next edition of ... SOCCER POLEMICS!!
