Belgium and The Netherlands taking over The Giro
3 stages, a Belgian win and a Dutch win
The Giro d'Italia, it is a race that is usually dominated by the chauvinistic Italians. But not this time, at least not in the first stages. There was the win of Fillippo Ganna in the time trial, which is of course an Italian. But in the second stage, the Belgian Tim Merlier sprinted to the win an a bunch sprint. And today in the third stage, the win was surprisingly for Taco van der Hoorn, who attacked after only 2 kilometers and took it all the way onto the finish. What a magnificent win by the man from The Netherlands. This means we had very surprising winners and stages in this Giro, and this is very promising for the next three weeks!
Tim Merlier took the first stage before Nizzolo, Sagan and Groenewegen
Taco van der Hoorn won solo today
