How do you defend against a heavy punch? The attacker who throws a punch thinks to make some serious damage. He keeps punching with his full power. You might be vulnerable to defend against punches.

Usually, your focus would be how to defend the punch. So you put your hands up and cover your head so that you do not get hit. Sometimes you see the victim turn back or put his head down to protect himself from the attack.

But what happens, that is the opposite. If you do that, you might defend some punches at the beginning. While you turn and put your head down with a hope to defend against punches, you will get hit by continuous punches.

At this moment, only putting your hands up and cover your head can protect you for the time being. But you cannot protect yourself forever. When you are in a situation like this, you have to understand the whole situation.

If the attacker throws a punch and then stops punching, that is okay. But when the attacker is aggressive and decided to hurt you pretty bad, he will not stop after one or two punches. You need to stop the attacker.

Instead of only putting your hands up, you have to parry and it should be like a strike. While doing block and parry, you hit the attacker's arms inside. So you are getting in to attack and your parry acts like a strike.

The attacker will not continue punching when he gets hurt. After hurting his arms, you can strike his body. You have to be very fast to make your move, and do not give the attacker any chance to keep punching.
