When we see something is wrong or any danger, we react to it. In a fight for self-defense, how you interpret the situation and assess the risk can change everything and help you make the right move.
For example, you are walking and suddenly see a snake. As soon as you see the snake, you run away. A lot of things happened here. When you saw the snake, you saw how big the snake is, which direction it is moving, whether it is a poisonous snake or not. You recognized that it was a poisonous snake.
You looked for any stick or something so that you can defend yourself. You did not see any stick or something like that and decided to run from there was the best option. So you ran.
Here as soon as you see the snake, you interpret the whole situation and do a risk assessment and then make your decision. When you fight, you also do that. This is very important. You know how to fight and that is great. You know yourself, so which situation you are in, you need to interpret that.
You see that you can fight and get out of there, you make your move accordingly. On the other hand, you see that there are multiple attackers and they have weapons. You do the risk assessment. You can fight but it would be too risky.
So your focus is to find a way to get out of there. Even if you fight, you look for an opportunity to run and get out of there.
