Arteta in his press conference admitted that we need a new center back after Calum Chamber’s ACL injury. Reports out there now suggest that we are going for Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng this January

It is believed that Boateng wants to leave Bayern this new transfer window. He is 31-year-old and the price tag on his is around $16.7 million.

Is Boateng an ideal centre back for Arsenal in absence of Chambers? I am a bit skeptical considering his age and the fact that we have another young player Saliba whom we bought but sent back on loan to his club for this season.

Boateng might appear to be a short term answer to our defensive problem but what happens when our players are back?

He will probably leave again or we might lose those players if they can't get the playing time they need. Chambers has been on loan on many occasions and might find himself asking to be sold if he feels he is not part of Arteta's plans when he returns.

Arsenal needs to buy young player instead of Boateng. Such young player can be loaned out without any problem or worry. William Saliba is a center back we bought and loaned back to Saint-Etienne and he will be arriving from in the summer.

These young players are the future and should be treated as such. They need to be integrated into the team immediately for them to gel and understand one another better.

Boateng is good on his own but we need young players that can be the future of the club.
