I hate the Brooklyn Nets logo and jerseys

It probably sounds like I am spitting sour grapes here but I really don't like the dumbing down of society with intentional misspellings for the sake of appearing more hip and urban. It isn't just the intentional misspellings it is the font and really everything else about this kit that really rubs me the wrong way.

I lived in New York City and specifically Brooklyn for a while back around 10 years ago and that city and area already has a stigma of stupidity that is quite a common misconception of heavily populated urban areas.

I also didn't like it when they temporarily changed the team name to Bed-Stuy that unless you lived in NYC or were a big fan of Biggie Smalls, you don't even know what the hell is going on.

Bed-Stuy is a part of Brooklyn that is actually called Bedford-Stuyvesant. It was a relatively unknown place (not that people in NYC didnt know about it, but the "outside world" didn't) until it was mentioned by Biggie and featured in the documentaries about B eye Gee.

The thing that gets me is that are we really embracing full ghetto on the court? I remember when the XFL allowed players to name themselves whatever they wanted to instead of their actual names on the jerseys. It was stupid then and it is stupid now.

There has been some talk about the NBA allowing certain players to have nicknames on their jerseys instead of their real names and some people in the media are actually stating they think this is a good idea.... from a marketing point of view alone of course. It would be one thing if Nike wants to make these things to be for sale in stores but I don't like the idea of them "dumbing down" the sport by having jerseys with fake names and colloquial spellings of a region or team.

It's just stupid and it makes me want to root for whoever is playing against Brooklyn.

Oh and by the way Brooklyn just lost to the Memphis Grizzlies, who at 3-6 aren't exactly a powerhouse in the NBA. I celebrated that loss and will celebrate every other loss the Nets suffer in the future... all because of what i consider to be stupid jersey decisions.

The population is already dumb enough, we don't need to make illiteracy a "cool" thing by putting it on professional basketball kits.

I haven't really been keeping up with basketball lately but yeah, i agree... But i am a stickler for grammar and spelling in a general sense. I also have a love/hate relationship with NYC in a general sense. When I visit the states I always stop there to visit a relative and a friend but after a few days of "Wow!" I feel like "why would anyone want to live here?"

That was my feeling as well. No matter what you do it is crowded. It's actually a relief to get back to your apartment just so you don't have to dodge people all the time. Oh and the cost of the apartments are just insane as well.
