Well crap... this is one of the things I do every time i go to the gym. I'm glad i read this because I had no idea and I only started doing it because I saw someone else doing it. I'll switch it up!

you should transition away from it. I did it for a long time also and you don't know these things until someone tells you. There are tons of ways to exercise your shoulders, there is no need to do the dangerous ones.
