RE: Pacing: Quite possibly the toughest aspect of distance running

I only got my Garmin watch this year, but I did previously have a Pebble watch that let me see data from my phone app. I am not watching my pace all the time, but then I get an update every kilometre through my earphones anyway. Setting off too fast is never a good idea. I find I can be fairly consistent with my pace even when not monitoring it, but I do find I can speed up a little after about 5km. I tend to run with podcasts rather than music, so they are not likely to affect my pace much. I can see that appropriate music may help people keep up a pace though.

Are you in the Hive Running Club on Strava?

I got into podcasts years ago. There are so many interesting shows that I have to find time to listen and running is good for that. I tend to have them on x1.5 speed to get through more. Not sure that makes me run quicker though.
