Blue Resurgence

WHAT A GAME!!! I feel absolutely ecstatic. I was looking forward to this game since the first leg at Iduna park, last two weeks ago. After that Aderemi goal, I had this sinking feeling, but if we are going by history, a goal down is anything but secured. It made me also remember the game of the past in which Chelsea has come out victorious after going down to a disadvantage in the first leg. That's five progressions in the knockout stages of the Uefa Champions League after losing the first leg. The true comeback king, hehe.

It looks like Graham Potter's boys are starting to find their form after a dreadful run of games before now. The blues came into today's game after a narrow victory earlier in the weekend against Leeds and also trailing by one goal after the first-leg loss at Signa Iduna Park. In contrast, Dortmund were on superb run-off form, winning their last eleven games, and not conceding a goal this year; well, until they met Chelsea, gigity. Dortmund enjoyed the majority of the possession in the first half, coming closest to scoring from a Marco Reus free-kick that was parried away by Kepa. Raheem Sterling eventually broke the deadlock in the forty-third minute to level the game on aggregate. Shortly after the restart, a cross from Ben Chillwell hit the arm of Wolf in the box which saw Chelsea being awarded a penalty. Kai Havertz stepped up and hit the post the first time, but after a VAR check for encroachment by Dortmund, the penalty was retaken and this time, Kai Harvertz dispatched it. An amazing atmosphere at the bridge. Looks like Graham Potter would be around a while longer, nevermind, I'm pretty excited we advanced into the round of 16.

Elsewhere, Benfica ran riot against Club Brugge, scoring five past Mignolet. An aggregate win of seven goals to one means the Portuguese side advance into the next stage. Thank you for reading. see you soon.

Hmm. I believe the absence of Adeyemi in that Chelsea game made a big difference attack-wise. They reached the box often but fail to take advantage of their chances.
