David Warner has been reinstated as captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad after playing under Kane Williamson for the last season. Warner was stripped off from captaincy after the infamous sandpaper incident and because of this, he missed the 2018 season. Kane Williamson captained the side for two years with Bhubaneswar Kumar as his deputy. Sunrisers won the IPL in 2016 under the captainship of David Warner.
Warner seemed to be very happy with the decision and thanked Kane and Bhuvi for doing a great job with the team for two years. He said that he is grateful for the opportunity and will do his best for the team.
Warner is the most consistent batsman of the IPL. He has scored more than 500 runs in every season he has played. He is the highest run-getter among overseas players and fourth-highest run-getter in the IPL. Had he not missed one season, he might have been on the top of the table.
After the sandpaper saga, Australia announced that Smith and Warner will never be eligible for captaincy but I think this decision is too harsh. They are in the list of greatest players in Australia with tremendous leadership skills. I think Australia will regret this decision in the years to come.
