Euro 2020: Why England win is significant

I have been trying to put up this post since the win but for some certain reason I hold up. Before we progress I will love to retract our mind back to the post I made explaining the reason why this competition was tagged 2020 instead of 2021. Some persons are still calling me and asking me why the competition was tagged 2020, even when I referred them to such post. Well, I will try spare up sperate time to get us updated.

Yesterday I was looking for something when I came across somebody. He is fully into this Euro thing compared to me who doesn't watches all the matches. Truth be told, out of all the matches played I have just watched few, this is because I am really engaged. But nonetheless, I still need to get myself updated so that I can be able to update my fans or put up a post for such.

I met this guy and we discussed for hours about the Euro and the upcoming match between England and Germany before it started. It was really an interesting conversation but at the end we channelled our attention to just England and Germany alone. Anytime I checked the list of the Euro winners am really ashamed to see that a big name country like England has not won the trophy for at least once, this is really shameful to even talk about.

Incase you don't know, below are the list of the winners since 1960 when the competition started. When the competition started in the year 1960, it was Soviet Union that won it after France hosted it. The next one took place at Spain and it was Spain that won it. The next one sees Italy hosting it and they won it. 1972 sees Belgium hosting it and Soviet were the runners up and it was Germany that won it.

In the year 1976, Yugoslavia hosted the cup and it was
Czechoslovakia that won it. I was really surprised seeing that Czechoslovakia were able to win it in that year but that passed and in the year 1980 Italy hosted again and it was the German machine that England defeated that won it. 1984 France hosted it and they won it against Spain and in the year 1988 Netherlands got their first. While still hoping for England to win's it but they are still not performing up to expectations. 1992 Sweden hosted it and Denmark won it. In the year 1996 England hosted it and I was really expecting them to win it at this stage but they also shows how they are not capable as Germany won it and Czech Republic were the runners up. In the year 2000 it was Belgium/Netherlands that co-hosted and France ends up winning it.

With different countries winning it we still can't see England sailing along the team that are winners. This really got me bothered and even when Portugal hosted it in the year 2004 it was Greece that won it with Portugal acting as runners up. 2008, 2012 it was a double for Spain as they won it and 2016 sees Portugal finally crowned champions after France hosted it. If we are to run a check we will see that almost all the big name countries has won it except England and the pressure keep pilling on them to win it.

Right at this stage I am beginning to think that the era has come for England to win the Euro cup. It is long over due and to make it looks shameful England has one of the best squad in this competition, I still keep wondering why they are not getting it right. I told the lad that I know England will defeat Germany but the major issues now is for them to get Ukraine defeated in the next round. The win surely is significant for England as it has given them the boost to aim for the trophy more better.

With the current England squad I know for sure they will progresses far, I will keep watching closely to see what they will come out with in this competition. This win will surely boost their moral and project them for the bigger pictures ahead.

The best motivation they could give themselves is by winning against a very strong German team and they have done that successfully, thanks to Kane and sterling ,with that it shows that this generation are really living up to the task on them.and I won't be surprised if they carry that vibes on and get to the final which is even looking likely right now, wining against Germany is Very important as it is a moral boasting encounter for the team
