Carabao Cup: Chelsea and Liverpool eliminated

The Carabao Cup tournament is getting interesting and hotter by the day. Two weeks ago, all the top teams in England defeated their opponents to make it to the fourth round of the tournament. Unfortunately, Chelsea FC and Liverpool FC have been eliminated from the tournament while their folks in Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, Arsenal FC and Manchester City progress.

Chelsea was first to be eliminated by Josè Mourinho men on Wednesday night after Mount missed a goal in the penalty shoot-out. The game ended as a tie following a late equalizer by Tottenham Hotspur in the 86th minutes of the game. Chelsea FC scored early in the first half but couldn't defend till the final whistle and couldn't score a second goal either. After a last minute pressure by Tottenham, they succeeded in drawing the match.

This led to a penalty shoot-out. All five Tottenham men got the back of the net while only four Chelsea players were able to score. The penalty shoot-out then ended 5-4 in favour of Hotspurs.

Liverpool fall out

On Thursday night, Liverpool FC met again with Arsenal at Anfield for the Carabao Cup. Unfortunately, Liverpool got knocked out after Wilson missed a spot kick. The Liverpool lineup against Arsenal didn't appear impressive and it made feel they weren't interested in the trophy. It's been really long Liverpool lifted the EFL trophy and I expected Jurgen Klopp to treat it as priority.

Howbeit, they boys have their best during the 90 minutes display. They had many chances but Leno didn't allow the ball get past him. It was just an unlucky game for them. Arsenal too did well as they didn't allow Liverpool beat them twice in a week. On Sunday night, Liverpool defeated same Gunners 3-1 at Anfield but this time, it was for the Premier League.
