Sports betting especially football betting has continued to record so much increase in each passing day. Over here in Nigeria, we see a lot people both young and old trooping into football betting offline shops on a daily to gamble. The idea of sports betting was birthed as a way of allowing sports lovers and football fans to get rewarded for their passion. I would say that they way people are so bent on football betting is becoming worrisome and alarming. Too bad is that a lot have become so addicted to betting.

Personally, I don't see gambling and betting as a business although some see it that way. It is only a business for the owners of these betting sites. Many young persons instead of learning a skill or starting a viable business venture, they have decided to bank on football betting in the hope that they'll win a huge amount of money someday. It's true that some persons do get lucky and then win but how long before they won.

Some lose a lot money without even winning and I was in this category...lol😂 before I stopped betting many years ago. The addiction of gambling and the useless hope of getting rich overnight has made many use money assigned for important things. I have seen a person use his school fees to bet and as we speak, he is no more in school. I also know of a person who used the funds for buying necessities for his baby to bet. Very terrible

If you must bet on football matches then do it with limits. Do not get addicted to gambling for it is not a good venture for investing. Funnily enough, we see new sport betting companies emerging everyday. We have the likes of Bet9ja, Betvictor, sportybet, betting, nairabet, 360bet and many more.

In addition, betting isn't a way of making wealth or getting rich if you ask me. Winning or return on staking is never guaranteed or sure since everything is based on luck. Hence, we ought to flee from the addiction of betting.

You find in most poor societies that betting is huge. Look at India and the cricket betting and you will be shocked how much bigger it is than what you have in Nigeria with football. Bet365 did over 3 Billion UK Pounds last year in turnover and that sounds big but wait back to the Indians who spent $150 Billion last year.

People usually get involved in betting in hope of getting rich quickly. The thing is, the opposite might happen. Thank you @tomlee for sharing what you saw. People spend money on betting that you should spend on something very important for their family.

Some people might win but that's temporary. Eventually, they lose everything.

Quite thoughtful!

Betting isn't a way to get wealth; it's a fool's game. Instead of getting rich, you end up poorer.
