The best match of Euro 2020 so far -> Netherlands vs Ukraine!

Finally, we got a fantastic match in Euro 2020. There have been several interesting matches so far, but the match between the Netherlands and Ukraine became the highlight of the tournament so far.

When I looked at the schedule for Euro 2020 on June 13th, I believe most people (including me) expected the match between Croatia and England to be the highlight of the day. It might have been, on the paper, but the match itself was quite boring, and I must say that it ended up pretty much the way I expected... not much happening and a small win for England. After all, I don't consider Croatia to have a very good team, so I don't leave them any chance at all in the tournament.

Then came the match between Austria and North Macedonia, in which the latter team actually did quite well. But, the important change happened as the Austrian coach suddenly changed the spots of Hinteregger and David Alaba. David Alaba had been in the defense until then, but suddenly he played further up on the field, and it was easy to see that he had much-needed attacking skills. He then gave the pass that led to the 2-1 score, and after that, the North Macedonian team didn't have much energy left.

Then came the highlight of the day... the second half of the Netherlands vs. Ukraine.

I didn't get to see much of the first half, and maybe I don't need to feel sorry about that. But, then came the second half that brought us a total of 5 goals. It all started with a goal from Wijnaldum, followed by a goal by Weghorst. At this time, I expected the match to be over, and I even considered going to be so that I could get up early this morning to work. But, just before I left, we got to see a totally fantastic goal scored by Yarmolenko for Ukraine, and only a few minutes later, the score was 2-2 after a goal by Yaremchuk.

If you want to see the fantastic goal scored by Yarmolenko, check the video above.

At this moment, I was wondering what would happen to the game. Would the Dutch team get scared, and maybe Ukraine would manage to score one more?

But, instead of attacking more, the Ukrainian team calmed down, and the Dutch team took advantage of it. As a result, they attacked more and more, and it led to the winning goal scored by Dumfries in the 85th minute.

I am happy that I didn't go to bed immediately after the 2-0 goal of the Netherlands. This was football the way it is supposed to be. Entertaining and amazing! I hope we will get to see more football like this in the coming days and weeks!

That calmdown from Ukraine after back to back goals to make it equal would be something they will rue it, isn't it?
That, time and again shows don't relax until the closing bells are rung. We have famous saying related to same thing in Cricket as well like Match isn't over until the last bowl is bowled.

Good one and nicely compiled and thanks for unbiased writing :)

I am not that passionate about cricket (or tennis). But the truth is, I feel the same way about those as with computer games... if you spend some time to catch the essence and start to pay attention/play, I believe almost any sport or game can be addictive! :)

That match was a hit match, Netherlands really stood there ground to with their first game in the group stage against Ukraine, that's a big start for them with 3goals, let's see what their performance will be in the next game.

Yeah - the match against Austria will for sure be a tough one as well, even though I might believe that Ukraine has a stronger team than Austria. No matter what, I have a feeling it might be one more tight match, just like the match against Ukraine!
