The European Championship in football is approaching - I can't wait!
It is May 20th today, and it is only 21 days until the kick-off for the European Championship in football. It was supposed to be arranged for 2020, but due to COVID, it was postponed. That was probably a wise decision, but now I am really happy to see that the event is approaching.
I really remember when all football all across Europe was stopped in March last year. It felt terrible. But, when the German Bundesliga had its kick-off in mid-May last year, it felt like I had been waiting for my whole life to watch a football match again.
Well, now it is soon time for the European Championship in football, and somehow, it feels like I have been waiting for so long for the event to be arranged.

Today it is 21 days to go before the kick-off in which Italy will play against Turkey. This is going to be a very interesting match, especially considering that Italy hasn't been in an international tournament for a while. Will they return with a boom and win it all? It might happen, even though I have my doubts about whether the team is good enough to actually win the tournament.
Turkey is like crypto - a real roller-coaster. As they started their matches in the World Cup qualification this spring, they first won against the Netherlands, then they beat Norway (two quite impressive results), and then suddenly, they played a draw against Latvia. In other words, with Turkey, anything can happen!
On the second day, Denmark will play against Finland in a real Scandinavian battle. Most people expect this to become an easy win for Denmark, but Finland has just played very well in the last couple of years. I would not underestimate them.
Then you have the match between Wales and Switzerland. These are both countries that come to the tournament as outsiders. Neither of them should be good enough to win the tournament, but if they make it through the group stage, everything is possible!
The highlight on day 2 is the match between Russia and Belgium. This is a match I look forward to. Russia doesn't have the most famous players, but they play with their hearts and fight for their country. Russia is never an easy team to beat. Belgium has one of the best teams in the tournament, in fact, I actually think this might be the best squad in the tournament. But, they haven't managed to make it all the way to the top in the European Championship in football, nor in the FIFA World Cup. Is this the time when they will succeed?

The more I think about it, the more excited I get. Of course, we have the final in the Europe League between Villarreal and Manchester United first, and then comes the Champions League final between Manchester City and Chelsea. But, I am already looking beyond those matches, because the highlight this summer is going to be the European Championship!

That's right man! I am also very excited for the upcoming matches. Not only we will have the European Championship but also the Copa America, which is the same tournament but for South American countries. I believe France will win in Europe and Brazil will win in South America. Germany right now isn't strong enough to compete with France and England has a new generation of players that are quite promising but no up to the level of the French players. Spain and Italy are weak right now, and Portugal might compete but I simply see France on a whole other level. I don't think they can be defeated by anyone.
In America, Brazil won the previous cup without Neymar because he was injured, as usual, now with Neymar, I think they will win again. I don't see Argentina with enough level to defeat Brazil and Uruguay and Chile aren't as strong as in previous editions. So France and Brazil will probably be the winners of these summer tournaments.
Copa America is really interesting as well, but living in Europe, most of the focus is on Europe... But, I am curious to see whether it will be an easy win for Brazil in Copa America or not. Argentina has a habit of not winning big tournaments, and on the paper, I guess Brazil should have the strongest team...
But, in Europe, I am really surprised looking through the Portuguese squad... it looks and sounds really strong! But, considering that Germany, Portugal, and France will play in the same group, I would say that this is gonna be extremely interesting!
