Premier League Transfer News

Over the years we've seen transfer news that has shocked us. David Beckham was a great example, moving to the LA Galaxy in an unbelievable move, becoming one of the best MLS players of all time in the process.

Whilst he made the move from Real Madrid, we're here to talk EPL. Let's take a look at the ten most shocking Premier League transfer news we've ever seen.

10. William Gallas (Spurs)

In 2010 William Gallas made Premier League transfer news headlines by signing for Tottenham on a free transfer and turning his back on Arsenal. The North London rivals have one of the biggest football rivalries in the world, and the move even more shocking especially considering he captained Arsenal before his move to Spurs.

Gallas has a history of Judas-like betrayal. He joined Arsenal after five years with London rivals Chelsea, with his former club claiming that he threatened to score own goals if he wasn't allowed to leave the club.

9. Michael Owen (Manchester United)

Michael Owen exploded onto the scene as a 17-year old at Liverpool. In his seven seasons he scored 118 goals in 216 appearances and became a fan favourite at Anfield. He would sign for Real Madrid in 2004 but only a year later, made a surprising move to Newcastle United for a club record £16.8m.

Fast forward to 2009 and Owen had openly stated that he regretted his move to Tyneside. The Premier League transfer news that Owen would move to Manchester United in the summer of 2009 took everybody by surprise. It incensed Liverpool fans, who are arch rivals to United, as well as Newcastle fans, who had just been relegated with Owen playing upfront.

Moving between two of the biggest football rivals was always going to raise eyebrows. Carlos Tevez was considered one of Manchester United's key players and was adored by fans after playing a key role in their triumphant 2008-09 season.

The Premier League transfer news that he was moving from Man United to Man City caught everyone off guard in 2009. It was a move that shocked the Red Devils faithful and marked the beginning of a new era of dominance in Manchester.

Football has really proven in the long run that everyone is for sale, depending on how much.

That alone has proven that in reality no true loyalty except both party is getting their equal aim and value.

Thanks for this history brought back

Good to be back my friend 😀

I needed the break just to recoup and look after things at home. Great to be back at it again

Oh you're gonna love the list! Definately some controversy among them!

One transfer that made me laugh so much was Romelu Lukaku.

  • He was bought $100 million from Inter Milan by Thumas Tuchel of Chelsea. Then less than a year later, he was loaned to Inter Milan (lol).

Haha yep, Chelsea frustrates me with their transfer market wheeling and dealing. Salah, KDB to name a few

Barcelona too.
• Griezmann - Bought 120 million Euros, sold back for 20 million Euros
• Coutinho - Bought 160 million Euros, sold for 20 million Euros

As a Barca fan, the way Bartomeu managed the transfer market was the reason why Barca is suffering too much - including selling 25% of their TV rights.

Wow i love this compilation. Owen playing for Manchester Utd is something that Liverpool fans never expected.

William Gallas playing for 3 London rivals in his career is a bitter pill for the London rivalry between Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs.

The move my Carlos Tevez to Manchester City from city rivals Manchester Utd broke the camel's back.

I think Aubameyang's move to Chelsea is also a bitter pill for Arsenal fans.
