Joining Streak Runners International

Streak Runners International, Inc. along with United States Running Streak Association, is a keeper of streak running records.

They have this nice domain named https://www.runeveryday.com/.

On it, they keep the list of all those runners who run every day.

The definition

WHAT'S A RUNNING STREAK?

The official definition of a running streak, as adopted by the Streak Runners International, Inc., and United States Running Streak Association, Inc., is to run at least one mile (1.61 kilometers) within each calendar day. Running may occur on either the roads, a track, over hill and dale, or on a treadmill.

My personal definition is to run two miles each day. If this is *really not possible (illness) the fallback action is to walk for one mile. I do that extremely rarely.

My current streak as of yesterday is 630. I started this streak in July 2019. Then I realized that if I don't run regularly I become grumpy and annoying. The solution was to run every day. It worked :)

The response from the site

There is an optional paid membership involved.

Do I need it? Not really.

In the meantime, while I await approval, we can check the streaks here.

Happy running

Wow, 630 is very impressive. The fact that you haven’t been sick or had a life crisis or any other showstopper event to knock you off course in all that time is really amazing. I wonder how long you can go.

Thanks. I wonder too :)

I've been ill a couple of times. Ill meaning I've been lying in the bed for a day or two with a general feeling-bad and a headache. On those occasions, I dragged myself out for a one-mile-long walk.

Nothing serious like injuries so far. So good :)

I have a streaker friend who was running every day for many years. When a surgery stopped him he continued the streak with doing joga every day :)

I guess I could run every day, but I prefer to do less, longer runs. I can see some people would get something from daily runs. I think I would get frustrated if I missed days for whatever reason and I don't need the extra pressure.

Good luck with it anyway.

Thanks :)

It's a decision, that's all. It becomes a habbit after several months. It takes a bit of planning on some days. And you definitely need the support and understanding of your family.
