Blast from the past - WRC New Zealand Rally 2001

Hi, friends!

I already mentioned in my posts that season 2001 was probably one of the best in the history of rallying and I follow this sport for almost 30 years.

It's not that cars were better, it was down to the quality of the field and driver's market was much better then today, I would say.

There was no that much of a domination like in the last probably more then 15 years.

It's never good when only one driver always wins rallies and crowns. That means that selection was made badly or paying drivers bought their works seats with money, not talent.

I don't say that paying drivers don't have talent, it is just that they don't win titles usually.

So, the season is 2001 and top drivers are here: McRae brothers, Gronholm, Makinen, Kankunen, Delecour, Loux etc.
