Breen leads Rally Sanremo 2021 after super special stage

It is so good to see the entry list with more then 140 entrants and with 140 at the finish of the first special stage. That's great! That means that motorsport is still alive, even in this bad corona times.

But what is sure is that Italian Rally Championship has the great drivers who would be able to fight even in the World Rally Championship with the right financial support from their national FIA organisatin.

But that's motorsport and here you must have bags full of money to compete on any level and if we are talking about WRC, then it is even bigger bag.

Ok, it is good that national championships have only R5 cars as their top class because the current WRC cars are so expensive to maintain.

What is more important is that works teams send their works drivers on the Italian national events to prepare them for WRC rallies because they know how competitive their rallies are.

Hyundai WRC team sent all their drivers except Sordo on Sanremo to practice ahead of WRC Rally Croatia. And it seems that this is a good strategy because their 3rd driver Craig Breen leads the rally in overall classification after super special stage.

Don't forget that this is only the start pf the rally and the real acion starts tomorrow.

Top Italian dog Andrea Crugnola is 2nd overall in another Hyundai i20 R5, only 1s behind Breen.

Oliver Solberg is only 13th at the moment with 4.6s behind Breen.
