Lukyanuk won ERC Rally Poland 2021

Hi, friends!

First round of European Rally Championship in Poland is finished and we have a new winner who is a current ERC champion Alexey Lukyanuk from Russia.

There was a huge fight between the two Russians - Alexey Lukyanuk and Nikolay Gryazin who was leading after first loop of special stages but later he picked up a two punctures and had to retire because of that.

Lukyanuk grabbed a chance with his both hands and won this super fast gravel rally in front of Škoda works driver, but through their satellite team Toksport, Andreas Mikkelsen.

Mikkelsen was in Poland to rebuild his confidence after his boost was badly shaken in WRC2 class in the World Rally Championship after some poor results.

Mikkelsen won the most of special stages from the last day of event just to put some pressure on the Lukyanuk but that was not enough and the gap between first two was less then 20s.

There was some other interesting names at the top of the rally. I must admit that I was disappointed with performance of Craig Breen who had to restart the rakky under Suoer Rally rules after he broke his suspension on the Hyundai i20 R5 on the first leg of the rally.

One of the surprises of the rally was Miko Marczyk from Poland who probably knows the special stages of the rally like his pocket but his performance was really good and he was after the leader less then two minutes.

The rest of the field was there but nothing spectacular. The next round of ERC will be on gravel of Liepaja.
