Mikkelsen tested with Škoda ahead of WRC Croatia Rally 2021

I follow Andreas Mikkelsen for probably 15 years when he started his career with private team Ramsport which his father later bought to run private Ford Focus WRC cars for his son.
Later he had really great stint with Škoda when he won Intercontinental Rally Challenge for two seasons in the row, and that was in 2011 and 2012.
At that time I didn't have some special opinion about him but everybody knew that Mikkelsen is super fast and occasionally able to fight against the best in the world.
Because of his titles with Škoda he got a contract with Volkswagen, because Škoda is part of VAG group - just like as Volkswagen, and he drove for Volkswagen in the World Rally Championship for four years.
He scored three WRC wins with their VW Polo WRC but he couldn't beat Seb Ogier who was in the same team.
After Volkswagen withdrew from WRC, he started again to look for WRC seat but in absence he started with Škoda again in R5 category. He had two really good rallies which brought him a deal with Citroen for a part time program in 2017.
After 2nd place in Catalunya, Hyundai signed him until the end of season 2019. He never understood their Hyundai i20 WRC rally car and because of that he couldn't deliver top results, especially on tarmac.
Last season he tested tires for Pirelli but at the end of the year he drove three rallies - again with Škoda which brought him a contract for 15 rallies this season with the same manufacturer.
He won WRC2 class at Monte Carlo Rallye, but at Arctic Rally Finland, Esapekka Lappi was quicker then him and that means he took 2nd place in WRC2 class.
So the next round is WRC Croatia Rally and this weekend I will go again to see some testing (if everything will be ok).
