Neuville tested new hybrid 2022 Hyundai i20 WRC

Hi, friends!

Hyundai World Rally Team is really trying to progress heavily with the development of their hybrid WRC car which will be introduced for the season 2022.

World Rally Cars must be homologated and all the factories must prepare homologation papers for July 1st (at least engine homologation, for the rest I am not 100% sure) and after that development of the engine stops.

New cars will be with much less aero stuff, with mechanical diffs and only five speed sequential gearbox. That means they won' have a paddle shifter as they have for the last four years.

I think that Hyundai decided to give the contract earlier to their leading stars Ott Tanak and Thierry Neuville to have them behind a steering wheel for the development process because it is so important to have a right driver in the car while you develop a machine.

I mean, we saw how Citroen C3 WRC was badly developed because they didn't have the right development driver in the car.

If factory invests a big money into the project like this, it is important that all the bricks are on the right place. Latest Hyundai WRC cars were developed around Thierry Neuville and that's why he is the only one who can drive them 100% on tarmac.

All the other drivers couldn't find the maximum because of the different driving style then Neville's

Now they will have Tanak and Neuville to born the new car with them. That will help both of them and some other drivers as well.

This video shows very good an old version of their current WRC car to the new hybrid WRC 2022 car.

Watch and conclude by yourself...
