Photography of the Day.
The picture was taken this evening, fish is being sold at the night market. To be honest, this scene is very familiar to me.
It is late at night, but the fishmonger's order is not finished yet. Fresh fish is arranged on a red plastic sheet. There is everything from large rui-katla to small puti-tengra. Looking at the small fish piled on a metal plate next to it, it seems that today's catch was good.
The fishmonger is standing behind, his lungi rolled up and busy with work. Buckets, weighing machines, and red basins are ready at his feet. Water is dripping on the ground, and the fish's bodies are sparkling in the night light. Seeing this scene, you can understand that there is no refrigerated fish here, it is all today's catch, absolutely fresh.
But the sad thing is, now the price of fish has increased a lot here. The fish that was once on the weekly table of middle-class families is now beyond the purchasing power of many. Hearing the price of large rui-katla, your eyes well up. The price of small fish is also much higher than before. As a result, many families are now reducing or completely eliminating fish consumption.
These small fish markets in our villages and towns are actually the real source of our food. The hard work of those who work hard morning and evening to catch fish, and those who stay up all night to sell it, is incomparable. But due to this rise in prices, it is becoming difficult for the common man to buy fresh fish.
If someone buys fish from here today, his family's dinner will be absolutely fresh and delicious. But the question is, how many people can afford that?
Seeing this picture, I remembered that the more modern we become, the more our food depends on the hard work of these common people. But if the price continues to rise like this, when will fish disappear from the table of the common man.
