In the previous post, we talked about situational awareness and fast reaction to the situation for self defense. When you are in a situation where someone attacks you, you have to either go all-in for self defense or get out of the attacking line.
Welcome back to Self Defense Situation # 149.
Every situation is different and you cannot fit one thing in every situation. What works in one situation, that might not work in another situation. When you fight for self defense, your move should be based on the situation.
If you just stand at the same place, you will get hit. The attacker sets his target and you stand still, which means he can easily strike and hit you over there.
Let's watch the video again. This is not my video, and video credit goes to the Fight SCIENCE. Let's watch this video.
The attacker runs towards him with a baseball bat. To defend yourself, you have to get close to the attacker when the attacker is about to swing the bat. Usually, the attacker moves the bat back to swing and attack. And that's the moment you should get in.
You can use your hands to prevent the attacker to swing the bat. At the same time, you can do the elbow strike and knee charge. When you strike, make sure that you are in control. You can use your surroundings against the attacker. Here the guy moves the attacker towards the car and closes the gap. As a result, the attacker finds it difficult to get out of there.
When you are aware of your surroundings, you can make your move effectively. In this situation, the guy can make the distance to avoid getting hit. But the attacker will attack him again. Next time, he has to get in to defend against the baseball bat attack.
Moving back and getting out of the attacker range can save you at that time, but you have to make your move instantly to stop the attacker.
So what would you do in a situation like this? Please feel free to leave your comments below. Thank you so much for watching the video.
Stay safe. Always be happy!
